SAN ANTONIO, Texas – West Texas A&M started slow and never recovered on Saturday afternoon as they dropped a four set decision (17-25, 24-26, 27-25, 22-25) to the two-time defending South Central Regional Champion Lions o Arkansas-Fort Smith inside of Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas on the campus of St. Mary's University. The Lady Buffs drop their second match in an many days to fall to 10-7 while the Lions claim their eighth straight win to improve to 11-5 following a sweep of St. Mary's earlier in the afternoon.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley with 15 kills on 49 swings with eight attack errors to hit .193 on the afternoon followed by Elisa Bentsen (14) and Taylor Kress (12) with double-digit kills, Selena Batiste dished out 49 assists in the match while Rachel Rhoades tallied 22 digs followed by Haley with 20 for a double-double. The Lady Buffs tallied 61 kills on 173 swings with 31 attack errors to hit .173 to go along with 58 assists, 82 digs and just six total blocks.
 
Arkansas-Fort Smith was led by Kennedi Coleman with 14 kills on 47 swings with six errors to hit .170 followed by Payton Hamilton and Lauren Wood with 11 kills each, E. Black dished out 47 assists in the win while Emily Tripp registered 22 digs. The Lions tallied 60 kills on 172 swings with 17 attack errors to hit .250 with 52 assists, 71 digs and 13.5 total blocks.
 
The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday night as they host the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian with first serve set for 6:00 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. LCU is 10-7 overall with a 4-2 mark in Heartland Conference play following a sweep over Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
