CANYON, Texas. –
The Buffs of West Texas A&M will finish the 2016 regular season with two crucial west division road matches against UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. WT will travel to Odessa for a match up against the Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. where the Buffs can clinch the west division title with a victory. They will then make the short trip to Portales, N.M. for a Saturday afternoon match up with the Greyhounds.

What is Next?...
The Buffs will participate in the Heartland Conference tournament next week, Nov. 1-6. Depending on tournament seeding, the Buffs could host a match on Tuesday or get a bye into Friday's semifinal match.
          
About UT Permian Basin…
The Falcons currently hold the sixth and final playoff spot in the Heartland Conference heading into the final weekend with 15 points. They are a two match unbeaten streak after defeating Eastern New Mexico 4-1 on Thursday and tying Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
Rafael Moreira and Tainan Bagetti are tied for the team-high in goals (4) and points (9) while Brandon Lee is close behind with three goals and two goals. Cesar Cid has a team-high five assists with two of those coming in a victory over ENMU.  Alec Sproule has started all 15 matches for the Falcons making 91 saves on 274 shots faced. The junior from Umina, Australia has allowed 26 goals for a .764 save percentage.  
 
The Series with UT Permian Basin…
The Buffs and Falcons battled to a scoreless draw on Oct. 1 in Canyon. WT had multiple chances to win the match none better than when Gabe Williams' shot went off the crossbar just before the end of first overtime. The Buffs finished the match with a 36-6 advantage in shots and taking 11 corners.

About Eastern New Mexico…
The Greyhounds saw their six match unbeaten come to an end last week losing to both UTPB and WT by a combined score of 7-1. They will need to win their two remaining matches and received help from around the league if they want to make into the conference tournament.
Robert Raspudic, Ignacio Dicun and Luis Lozoya have all scored two goals this season while Raspudic also leads the team in points with six. Robbie Leonard has been the top assist man for ENMU with three while Ryan McManus has contributed two of his own. James Gutierrez has been the goalkeeper of choice as the junio has made an appearance in 14 matches for the 'Hounds. He has made 69 saves while facing 204 shots for a .793 save percentage.  
 
The Series with Eastern New Mexico…
The Buffs and Greyhounds will meet for the 26th time in school history. WT leads the all-time series 16-6-3 including a record of 6-3-3 in Portales.
 
Last Time Around…
The Buffs dominated the Greyhounds en route to a 3-0 victory last Saturday at The Pitch. Reece Schattle put WT ahead in the first half while the defense held ENMU without a shot. Ivan Ulloa and Thomas Vickers both scored in the final 45 minutes to seal  to give the Buffs their eighth win of the season at home.
 
A Look Back…
The Buffs went 2-0 last weekend including scoring their second golden goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Lubbock Christian on Thursday night. Junior goalkeeper Patrick Satorie earned two more shutouts making him the first Buff in school history to have 10 shutouts in a single season. He was named NSCAA Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Week for that accomplishment.
WT dominated possession for a majority of the match against LCU before finally scoring in the 104th minute. The Buffs hit the crossbar six different times against the Chaps including twice in overtime before Rafael Vasconcellos timed his run perfectly to give the Buffs the full three points. It was the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native's first career game-winner.
The momentum from the win over the Chaps carried over to Saturday's match against rival Eastern New Mexico at The Pitch. It may have been senior day but it was the sophomores who put on a show as both Reece Schattle and Ivan Ulloa both got their names on the score sheet before Thomas Vickers added another goal late in the 3-0 win.
 
Around the West Division…
The Buffs hold a two-point lead over UTPB heading into Thursday's match and can clinch the division with a win. Eastern New Mexico currently sits in third with three points followed by Lubbock Christian in fourth.
 
Satorie Named NSCAA Division II Player of the Week…
West Texas A&M junior goalkeeper Patrick Satorie added to his already impressive award resume on Tuesday as he was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II men's soccer player of the week by the association's office in Kansas City, Missouri. It marks the first time in school history that a WT player has earned the award.
 
Satorie, a two-time Heartland Conference defensive player of the week, has become one of the top goalkeepers in all of Division II. Satorie ranks seventh in the nation in goals against average (.585) while the Buffs as a team rank fifth in shutout percentage (0.63). He has made 37 saves this season for a career best .804 save percentage while only allowing nine goals.
 
The Blackburn, Australia native earned his school record 10th shutout of the season this past weekend in a 3-0 win over rival Eastern New Mexico at The Pitch. He ranks second in school history in career shutouts (20) and could break Sebastian Furness's record of 21 this weekend.
 
Heartland in the Rankings…
Midwestern State moved up eight spots in the latest NSCAA Coaches' Poll after defeating St. Edward's on Thursday after in Austin, Texas .The Mustangs are now ranked 11th while the Hilltoppers dropped 12 spots to No. 15. MSU is the top team in the NSCAA South Central Region Rankings coming in at No. 2 with SEU at No. 3 followed by WT (6th) and Newman (7th).
 
NCAA South Central Region Rankings…
The Buffs are ranked #5 in the latest NCAA South Central Rankings as Midwestern State moved into the top spot. The Mustangs are now #1 after defeating #2 St. Edward's last Thursday while Colorado Mesa, Regis and WT stayed pat at 3rd, 4th and 5th.
