Lancaster and Bentsen Lead the Lady Buffs to a Highway 287 Sweep of Midwestern State

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M started fast and never looked back as they moved to a perfect 34-0 all-time against Midwestern State with a sweep (25-12, 25-16, 25-21) in front of over 500 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon on Saturday afternoon in a Highway 287 Challenge Cup matchup. The Lady Buffs improve to 14-9 (9-4 LSC) while the Mustangs fall to 11-13 (4-8 LSC) on the season.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Larami Lancaster with 10 kills on 18 swings with no attack errors to hit .556 to go along with 2.5 total blocks while Elisa Bentsen also registered 10 kills on 15 swings with one error to hit .600 in the win, Selena Batiste dished out a match high 39 assists while Lauren Britten led all players with 19 digs followed by Cori Haley with 16. WT registered 44 kills on 110 swings with 14 attack errors to hit .273 in the match with 44 assists, 56 digs and six total blocks.
 
Midwestern State was led by Sarah Garfield and Aerielle Edwards with seven kills each followed by Erin Richburg with four, Sarah Glawe dished out 12 assists for the Mustangs followed by Kristan Aduddell with 11 while Christy Carruth led the team with 10 digs on the afternoon. The Mustangs tallied 24 kills on 111 swings with 21 attack errors to hit .027 in the match with 24 assists, 43 digs and seven total blocks.

UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend for Lone Star Conference action as they head to San Angelo, Texas for a Friday night matchup with #10 Angelo State followed by a Saturday afternoon showdown with Tarleton State in Stephenville.
