Lady Buffs Start Fast and Sweep Past Eastern New Mexico on Saturday Afternoon in Canyon

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit .264 as a team and tallied 10 total blocks as they cruised past the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico (25-20, 25-16, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Lone Star Conference action. The Lady Buffs claim their third straight victory to remain in a tie atop of the LSC standings as they improve to 10-5 (6-1 LSC) while the Greyhounds fall to 8-8 (3-3 LSC).
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Taylor Kress with 11 kills on 25 swings with just two attack errors to hit .360 on the afternoon followed by Elisa Bentsen with 10 kills to go along with four blocks, Selena Batiste dished out a match high 26 assists followed by Kyli Schulz with 11 while Lauren Britten led the way defensively with 13 digs in the win. WT registered 41 kills on 110 swings with 12 attack errors to hit .264 as a team with 39 assists, 50 digs and 10 total blocks.
 
Eastern New Mexico was led by Lauren Frye with 13 kills on 29 swings with six attack errors to hit .241 in the match followed by Courtney Lawson with 10 kills to go along with seven digs, Kaitlyn Kluna paced the ENMU offense with 18 assists followed by Alexis Aguirre with 17 while Andrea Aguilar led all players with 21 digs in the loss. The Greyhounds registered 39 kills on 124 swings with 24 attack errors to hit .121 as a team with 38 assists, 51 digs and four blocks in the match.

UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend as they take on Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday night with first serve set for 7 p.m. at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas. WT will then take on the two-time defending South Central Regional Champion Lions of Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
