SAN ANTONIO, Texas – West Texas A&M men's soccer opened their season on the road against St. Mary's. The Buffs allowed two first half goals and were unable to find a late equalizer as they lost, 2-1.
The Rattlers opened the scoring in the 16
th minute when freshmen Patricio Botello Faz scored his first collegiate goal. He received a ball from Jack Wolf in the box and bicycled it home. Kieman Akers gave St. Mary's insurance before half time as he redirected a deflection passed
Patrick Satorie.
Conrod Goulbourne got one back in the 86
th minute but the Rattlers held on to win.
TURNING POINTKieman Akers goal with only two seconds left in the first half gave the Rattlers a two goal advantage. A cross ricocheted off the keeper before he calmly slotted the ball in the back of the net. The timely goal ended up being the deciding goal in the match.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS-
Conrod Goulbourne opened the scoring account for the Buffs with his 10
th career goal.

Alex Villalon recorded his first career assist on Goulbourne's goal.

Patrick Satorie had a match-high four saves.
