DALLAS, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team continued their dominance over Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Villalon's goal in the 29
th minute was enough for the Buffs in their 1-0 victory over the Patriots. The Buffs improve their record to 4-4-0 while DBU falls to 2-4-1.
In a defensive battle, neither team was able to find scoring opportunities in the first half. The Buffs capitalized in the 29
th minute when
Ivan Ulloa's header found a streaking Villalon, who calmly slotted it in the upper ninety. WT held a 4-3 advantage in shots in the first half while both teams managed one corner kick.
Ulloa nearly added a brace in the 83
rd minute when his shot nailed the post. DBU nearly pulled even in the final minutes but WT's back line held strong until the final whistle.
TURNING POINTUlloa's flicked the ball to Villalon on the right side of the box in the 29
th minute. Villalon's first touch was near perfect as it allowed him to blast the ball past the keeper.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS-
