HAYS, Kan. – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team allowed two late goals in its 3-2 loss to Fort Hays State Tuesday night. The Tigers equalized the match in the 86
th minute before scoring the game-winner with just six seconds left in the second overtime. The loss drops the Buffs record to 3-4-0 and 1-4 on the road.
WT had a dream start when
Ivan Ulloa scored his second of the season on a shot from 18 yards out. Both
Christian Suthers and
Alex Villalon were credited with the assist. FHSU equalized in the 26
th minute when Mauricio Castorino beat his defender and slotted the ball in the middle of the net for his fifth of the season.
The Buffs started the second half by earning a penalty and regained the lead.
Conrod Goulbourne stepped up to the penalty spot and placed the ball in the top right corner for his second of the season. WT continued to pressure the Tigers and seemed to have secured three points but Maruizio Costa had other ideas as he scored the equalizer in the 86
th minute.
Both teams had their chances in the first and second overtime periods but it was the Tigers who struck right before time was about to expire. Luan Silva's golden goal with six seconds put an end to the Buffs upset bid.
