CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team picked up its second consecutive win of the season in dominating fashion over Southern Nazarene, 7-0. The Buffs scored early and often to send the Crimson Storm to their fifth straight loss.
Goals from
Jake Wiffen and
Ryan Kennedy in the first three minutes gave WT all the momentum.
Christian Suthers scored his first of the season in the 24
th and
Ivan Ulloa added another in the 25
th minute to give the Buffs a 4-0 cushion heading into halftime. WT outshot SNU 16-1 in the first half and dominated every facet of the match.
The Crimson Storm kept the Buffs quiet until the 81
st minute when
Alan Salazar found a wide open
Chase Withrow in front of the net for a tap in goal.
Austin Henderson continued his impressive form with a goal in the 88
th minute.
Alex Cervantes saved the best for last when his header from
Chris Johnson put the icing on the cake in the 89
th minute.
The seven goals are the most the Buffs have scored since defeating UT-Permian Basin, 7-1, on Oct. 16, 2014. The win improves the Buffs record to 3-3-0 and 4-1-0 all-time against SNU.
