DURANGO, Colo. – West Texas A&M men's soccer allowed two goals in the last ten minutes to Fort Lewis in its 2-0 loss on Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Buffs record to 1-2-0 and 2-5-1 all-time against FLC in Durango.WT was unable to find any rhythm on offense and failed to score for the first time this season.
In a match that featured spectacular saves and hard-nosed defense, the Buffs were unable to penetrate the Skyhawk defense. FLC outshot WT, 18-9, with 10 of those shots coming in the second half. Alex Tillbery broke the scoreless draw in the 81
st minute when he found space in the final third. His shot from 10 yards out would prove to be the game-winner. The Buffs pushed for an equalizer but in the process gave up another goal. In the 85
th minute, Laurin Welland dribbled past the WT defense and slotted the ball in the back of the net from 15 yards out for his second of the season.
