LUBBOCK, Texas – In their second match of the day, the #25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit .267 on the night as they ran their season win streak to 15 matches on Friday night in a four set win over Lubbock Christian (25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 25-17) at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas. The Lady Buffs move to 23-3 overall with the win while the Lady Chaps fall to 15-4 on the season.
The opening set saw both teams come out swinging as they split the first 22 points of the match as

Cori Haley on the outside for a kill that tied the frame at 11-11 followed by a pair of LCU attack errors to give WT the 13-11 lead, a Lady Chaps ball handling error was followed by a block by Haley and
Lexi Davis to force an LCU timeout with the Lady Buffs leading 16-12. WT continued to hold a small lead as the teams traded blows as
Kyli Schulz found Hayes for a kill to run the score to 19-14 followed by a
Sydney Harlan finish and another Hayes kill that forced another LCU timeout at 21-14, the teams traded points after the break followed by a pair of LCU errors to force set point before a Lady Chaps serve found the net to end the set with the Lady Buffs taking the 25-17 win.
The Lady Chaps jumped out to an early lead in the second set as they took the 8-4 lead into a West Texas A&M timeout, the teams traded points after the break as LCU held the 11-7 lead before a Hayes service ace and a Lady Chaps attack error that sparked a WT run highlighted by a pair of
Lauren Bevan kills to tie the match at 14-14. The teams continued to trade points as Schulz found Davis in the middle to tie the match at 16 followed by a Davis solo block and kill to force an LCU timeout with the Lady Buffs leading 18-16, WT ran their lead to 19-17 before LCU battled back to tie the frame at 21 before Hayes found
Jessica Johnson in the middle for the kill followed by a Bevan finish to give WT the 23-21 lead heading into another LCU timeout. LCU registered two straight points to force a WT timeout at 23-23 followed by a Johnson kill that forced set point, the Lady Chaps responded with three straight point including two Lady Buff attack errors to take the second set 26-24.
WT came out swinging in the third set after giving away the second in the final points as Bevan continued to play well on the outside with four kills in the opening 21 points of the frame as the Lady Buffs forced an LCU timeout at 13-8, a pair of Lady Chap attack errors and a Hayes kill from Schulz continued the WT run as they forced another LCU timeout at 19-12. The teams traded points after the break as a Davis kill ran the WT lead to 21-14 followed two points later by a Johnson kill from Schulz to make it 22-15, a block by Haley and Johnson was followed by an LCU ball handling error to force set point as a Lady Chaps attack error ended the frame with the Lady Buffs taking the 25-15 win.
The fourth set saw the teams come out and trade blows early as they split the opening eight points of the frame before a block by Hayes and Davis sparked a WT run highlighted by a pair of Bevan kills and an LCU ball handling error to force a Lady Chaps timeout at 15-10. Two more LCU attack errors stretched the Lady Buffs lead to 17-11 before two LCU points were followed by a Hayes kill and service ace to force another Lady Chaps timeout with WT leading 19-13, the teams traded points after the timeout before a Johnson kill from Hayes sparked another run highlighted by a block by Davis and Haley before another Bevan kill forced match point at 24-17 followed by a Davis and Bevan block that ended the match, 25-17.
The Lady Buffs were led by Bevan with 16 kills and 11 digs for the double-double while Johnson registered 10 kills on 18 swings to hit .500 on the night, Hayes dished out 26 assists on the night while
Lauren Britten (15) and
Aspen Sanders (11) registered double-digit digs in the match. West Texas A&M hit .267 on the night with 53 kills on 146 attempts with 14 attack errors to go along with 51 assists, 61 digs and 15 total blocks.
Lubbock Christian was led by Channing Castleberry with 13 kills and 13 digs for a double-double followed by Christiana Tavo with 12 while Maddie Johnson and Amy Edwards had 10 kills each on the night, Erin Fisher dished out a match high 45 assists while Christa Daniel led all players with 24 digs. The Lady Chaps hit .114 as a team with 53 kills on 166 attempts with 34 attack errors to go along with 49 assists, 64 digs and six total blocks on the night.
WT will continue their road trip on Saturday as they head to Weatherford, Oklahoma for a pair of non-conference matchups with Oklahoma Baptist (3:30 p.m.) and Southwestern Oklahoma State (7 p.m.) at the Rankin Williams Fieldhouse on the SWOSU campus.
