CANYON, Texas –
The #25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit .324 on the night as they made quick work of rival Midwestern State (25-13, 25-17, 25-15) in a Highway 287 Challenge matchup on Tuesday night for their 34th straight Lone Star Conference win dating back to 2012. The Lady Buffs move to 21-3 (12-0 LCS) on the season while the loss drops the Mustangs to 6-17 (2-10 LSC).

The win lifts the Lady Buffs to a perfect 30-0 all-time against Midwestern State including claiming all 13 meetings at the WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon with 12 of those coming in straight sets. The victory gives the Lady Buffs their 13th straight win this season and it moved their Lone Star Conference win streak to 34 matches dating back to the 2012 season.

The opening set saw the Lady Buffs come out swinging as they used a Lauren Bevan service ace followed by kills by Sydney Harlan and Jessica Johnson to run their lead to 10-6 before an errant MSU pass found its way over the net right to Harlan as the freshman finished the point to force a Mustangs timeout with WT leading 11-6, WT continued their offensive run after the break as Cori Haley and Bevan registered kills to make it 20-11 followed by a huge solo block by Lexi Davis and an MSU attack error to force set point. The Lady Buffs committed a serving error to make it 24-13 before Kyli Schulz found Kameryn Hayes on the outside for the 25-13 decision.

The second set saw the Mustangs take the early lead as they registered seven of the first 12 points of the frame before a block by Harlan and Johnson was followed by a Davis service ace to tie the match at 7-7 and force an early Mustangs timeout, the Mustangs fought back to take the 13-11 lead before a WT run highlighted by a pair of blocks by Davis and Haley and an MSU attack error to force a Midwestern timeout at 16-13. The Lady Buffs allowed two of the next three points as WT called a timeout following a Mustang block at 17-15 before a pair of MSU attack errors sparked a WT run to end the match as the Lady Buffs ended the frame on an 8-2 run highlighted by a Schulz service ace and a Davis kill in the middle to take the 25-17 win.

The third set saw the Lady Buffs continue their momentum as they came out swinging with the 10-7 lead on an Aspen Sanders service ace followed by three straight Bevan kills as WT called a timeout with the 16-9 advantage, Schulz continued her run at the service line as they registered three straight points including a Davis finish on an over ball by the Mustangs as MSU called their first timeout of the frame at 19-9. The Mustangs fought back to cut the Lady Buffs lead to 23-15 before a Harlan kill in the deep corner from Hayes followed by an MSU attack error ended the match with a 25-15 decision.
