CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their season win streak to 12 matches on Saturday afternoon with a three set sweep of the visiting Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville (25-20, 26-24, 27-25) in front of 859 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" with former Lady Buffs in attendance for the program's 50
th Anniversary Celebration. The win lifts the Lady Buffs to 20-3 (11-0 LSC) while the Javelinas fall to 13-8 (5-5 LSC) on the season.
"What an environment, thank you to everyone involved in the celebration and a big thank you goes out to the alumni that made the trip to Canyon this weekend. Our players have had this marked on the calendar all season and it was nice to get a win in front of the originators of this program" said WT head coach

The opening set saw the two teams trade blows early as the Lady Buffs held the slim 13-10 lead before a block by
Lexi Davis and
Lauren Bevan followed by a Javelina attack error to force a Kingsville timeout at 15-10, the Lady Buffs ran their lead to 17-13 after the break before TAMUK capitalized on a pair of WT attack errors to cut the lead to 18-16 before kills by
Kameryn Hayes and
Sydney Harlan sparked a WT run to force a Kingsville timeout at 21-16. Hayes found the deep corner followed by a Kingsville attack error before a pair of TAMUK points,
Jessica Johnson connected on a kill in the middle to force set point followed three points by a Bevan kill from Hayes to end the first set, 25-20.
The second set saw the Javelinas come out swinging as they registered a pair of kills and a service ace to go along with three Lady Buff attack errors to force an early WT timeout at 6-1, the Javelinas continued to play well after the timeout as they fought to hold onto their lead as they ran the margin to seven points on back-to-back kills to force another WT timeout at 16-9. The Lady Buffs fought back after the break as they used their strong defense to get back in the set with a pair of blocks by Johnson and
Cori Haley to go along with a Kayes kill and
Lexi Davis service ace to force a TAMUK timeout as the Javelinas led 21-20, the teams continued to trade blows as the set was tied at 22-22 and 24-24 before a block by Davis and Bevan forced set point followed by a Harlan kill to take the 26-24 win.
The third set saw the Lady Buffs come out swinging as they took the early 8-3 lead on a Johnson kill before the Javelinas battled back to cut the lead to 13-11 before another Lady Buff run highlighted by Hayes finding the deep corner with the push shot followed by a Harlan kill to force a TAMUK timeout with WT leading 19-13. The Javelinas wouldn't go down without as fight as WT ran their lead to 22-18 before Kingsville responded with three straight points including a Lady Buff attack error to force a WT timeout with the Lady Buffs holding the 22-21 lead, Hayes found Johnson on the quick set following the timeout to make it 23-21, Davis registered a kill to force match point before the Javelinas battled back to tie the set at 25-25 before a Bevan kill and service ace to end the match at 27-25.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Bevan with 14 kills to go along with a team leading 14 digs for the double-double followed by Harlan with 11 while Johnson and Hayes had nine kills each, Hayes dished out 29 assists on the afternoon while
Kyli Schulz had 16. West Texas A&M hit .289 as a team with 52 kills on 114 swings with 19 attack errors to go along with 50 assists, 33 digs and six blocks in the match.
Kingsville was led by Kelsey Washington with a match high 15 kills on 33 swings followed by Stephanie Johns with nine, Casey Klobedauns led all players with 36 assists on the afternoon while Amarillo native Brett Zaccardo had 16 digs in the match. The Javelinas hit .235 as a team with 41 kills on 98 attempts with 18 attack errors to go along with 37 assists, 36 digs and seven total blocks on the afternoon.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they continue their homestand with a Highway 287 Challenge matchup with the visiting Mustangs of Midwestern State with first serve set for 7 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon.
