CANYON, TEXAS – West Texas A&M Women's Soccer (1-5-2, 0-3-1 LSC) hit the road this weekend as they take on Sul Ross State on Saturday, September 26 in Alpine, Texas. The match is set to kick off at 11:00 a.m.

West Texas A&M had a home and road match last week as they hosted No. 16 Texas Woman's and traveled to St. Edward's.
 
Lady Buffs Drop Home Game 2-0 to No. 16 Texas Woman's- September 16, 2026
The game opened as a tight defensive battle with neither team registering a shot through 14 minutes of play. The Pioneers would string together a corner kick and three shots (one on goal) over a four-minute stretch, but nothing came to fruition. The teams continued to scrap as the score remained tied, but TWU would be in control of possession for most of the half. Following a defensive misplay by the Lady Buffs right in front of their goal, Lauren Wade of Texas Woman's would capitalize on the chance by scoring off the turnover to give them a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. That score would hold going into halftime with WT trailing 1-0 with no shots registered in the first half.
 
Moving into the second half, Texas Woman's continued to control possession and would turn that into scoring chances. Franciezca Blancaflor made four saves in the opening 14 minutes of the second half to keep the game at a one goal deficit for the Lady Buffs. WT would register their first shot of the game in the 65th by Bailee Ramirez, but it would be saved. As the Pioneers continued to churn out opportunities, they would ultimately strike again in the 68th minute as they doubled their lead to 2-0. West Texas A&M would only generate one more shot the remainder of the game as they were unable to find an offensive rhythm. The score would settle at 2-0 in favor of Texas Woman's as WT would be shutout for the second straight game.
 
Top Lady Buffs

• Mollie Ferro played all 90 minutes and landed on shot on goal. This was her second game playing all 90 minutes this season.
• Bailee Ramirez logged 58 minutes and fired one shot on goal.
• Ryann Davis played all 90 minutes on defense and extended her streak of consecutive games playing the full game to five straight. This was her sixth total game logging 90 minutes on the season.

 
Lady Buffs Fall 2-0 to St. Edward's- September 19, 2026
The Lady Buff would be tested right away defensively as St. Edward's produced two shots (one on goal) and two corner kicks through the first 10 minutes. WT would pass the early defensive test as they then flipped the script and went on the attack in the next 10-minute stretch. Riley Sims (two) and Sienna Hurrell each came away with shots, but all three would be saved. The Lady Buffs continued to add pressure during that period with three corner kicks, but were unable to get on the board. After the offensive spurt by both teams through the first 20 minutes, the defenses settled in through the next 20 to limit the opposing offenses. In the 40th minute, the Hilltoppers would strike first right before half as they capitalized on a counter attack to take a 1-0 lead. That score would hold going into the break.
 
Moving into the second half, SEU had two early chances to double their lead as Franciezca Blancaflor came away with an early save in the 48th minute. St. Edward's had a shot clank off the cross bar in the 56th minute as the score remained 1-0. In the 60th minute, the Lady Buffs put together a great set piece and action off a corner kick as Ryann Davis headed in a goal for the tie, but after discussion, it was deemed she was offsides as the goal was called back. WT would continue to create chances with three corner kicks in a seven minute stretch, but could not equalize the game. SEU would ultimately double their lead in the 79th minute as they scored their second goal off another counter attack. That score would hold the rest of the way as the Lady Buffs would fall 2-0 to St. Edward's.

• Riley Sims fired three shots with two landing on goal in 69 minutes. This was her third game with 2+ shots on goal.
• Sienna Hurrell landed one shot on goal in 67 minutes.
• Ryann Davis logged 82 minutes on defense and came away with one shot.

 
Salado Standout
With 13 saves this past week, Franciezca Blancaflor continues to climb the save leaderboard at WT with 109 career saves to place her eighth all-time. Blancaflor is now 46 saves from passing Kelly Skehan (2009-10, 154) for seventh.

WT Races Past the Lobos for a Lone Star Conference Win- September 28, 2025
The match began with WT asserting early pressure against Sul Ross State, with Sarah Hernandez Lopez's shot testing the opposing goalkeeper in the ninth minute. The persistent offensive efforts culminated when Aaliyah McPeak found the back of the net at the 17:57 mark, assisted by Bailey Malone, putting the Lady Buffs up 1-0.
 
Throughout the first half, the Lady Buffs maintained the offensive momentum, generating multiple corner kicks and shots on goal, including attempts by Jezmin Castellanos Reyes and Jordan Bearden. Despite numerous attempts, the score remained unchanged as WT carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
The second half began with the Lady Buffs capitalizing early as Hernandez Lopez scored off an assist from McPeak in the 48th minute, extending their lead. WT maintained pressure throughout the period, generating several scoring opportunities, though SRSU goalkeeper, Emmy Finlinson, managed to make crucial saves to prevent further goals.
 
Despite consistent efforts and multiple shots from players like Alicia Cohen and Lauren Stokes, the Lady Buffs' attempts were thwarted by Finlinson's defensive play. As the half closed, WT held their 2-0 advantage, successfully keeping Sul Ross State scoreless and securing the win.
 
McPeak scored a goal and added an assist, securing the game-winning goal for the Lady Buffs. Castellanos Reyes led the defense with four shots, showcasing offensive pressure from the backline. Malone provided a key assist, helping to maintain the team's attacking momentum. Franciezca Blancaflor recorded a shutout, facing one shot and securing the win in goal.
 
Scouting Sul Ross State
The Sul Ross State University Lobos come into this match holding a 0-6-2 record with a 0-4-1 mark in the LSC. The Lobos tied Lubbock Chrisitan for their lone conference point and has lost against DBU, UT Dallas, Texas Woman's, and Oklahoma Christian. SRSU is coming off a 2025 season where they went 2-16 with a 1-13 record in LSC play. The Lobos would finish 14th in the conference standings. Sul Ross State came into this season projected to finish 14th in the LSC Preseason Poll.
 
The offseason saw the Lobos lose a plethora of players from last years squad including Kari Villatorro, Maria Barrientos, Emmy Flinson, and Kathy Palmer. Villatorro was their leading scorer from last year with six points from three goals. Barrientos had three points from a goal and assist while leading the team in shots (15) and shots on goal (eight). Finlinson and Palmer were the two starting keepers with 10 and eight starts respectively. They combined for 207 saves and a 3.44 goals allowed average.
 
Returning for Sul Ross State will be Cali Triggs, Sarah Anuskewicz, and Chloe Post. Triggs scored two goals for four points and compiled six shots with four on goal. Anuskewicz and Post were first and second on the team in minutes with 1609 and 1393 respectively. Post added one assist and 11 shots.
 
Through eight games, Kiersten Rowland has accumulated four points from two goals to lead the team. The only other Lobo to tally a point has been Gabby Trevino who has an assist. In goal, Kat Graves has started every game and made 72 saves on a 81.8 percentage. She has two shutouts and a 2.12 goals allowed average.
