WT Athletics Announces the Hall of Champions Class of 2026

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Champions Selection Committee is proud to announce the Class of 2026 as the newest inductees into the Hall.
 
Legacy Award – Wayne & Linda Woodward. The Legacy Award, established in 2008, recognizes individuals and organizations who have made significant lifetime contributions to the success and legacy of West Texas A&M Athletics.
 
The Class of 2026: Lauren Beville (Volleyball), Norma Cunigan (Track & Field), Ashley Hardin (Softball), Duane Joubert (Football), Shanna McBroom (Softball), Khiry Robinson (Football), Abraham Seaneke (Track & Field), Norman White (Football). 
 
The Athletic Hall of Champions, established in 1987, recognizes outstanding student-athletes, coaches and administrators for their significant achievements. The Selection Committee is comprised of 23 voting members that includes previous Inductees, coaches, Buffalo Club members, university faculty and staff and athletics staff.
 
The Class of 2026 will be inducted during the Hall of Champions Reception scheduled for Friday, October 23rd as well as being recognized during WT Football's homecoming contest against Western New Mexico on Saturday, October 24th.
 
LEGACY AWARD
 
Wayne & Linda Woodward are tremendous fans of Lady Buff Softball. In 2016, they established the Woodward Family Scholarship for Lady Buff Softball, with gifts to-date totaling more than $70,000. Rarely a softball game passes that the Woodward's are not in attendance and their support for the Lady Buffs is contagious. Most recently, the Woodward's erected a Buffalo in right field at Schaeffer Park. Any time a Lady Buff hits a home run that hits the buffalo, the Woodward's will donate another $1,000 to the scholarship fund. This fund continually grows and supports our student-athletes succeed both in the classroom and on the field.
 
CLASS OF 2026
 
Lauren Beville
Lauren Beville was a force in the back row for Lady Buff Volleyball as the Hereford, Texas product played in a program-record 544 sets over 154 matches during her career from 2009-2012. The Lady Buffs went 133-23 during her career including 63-4 in Lone Star Conference action to win three LSC regular season titles and four league tournament crowns.
 
Beville led the Lady Buffs to a pair of NCAA South Central Regional Championships (2009, 2012) along with appearance in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship match. Lauren set a new career digs record (2,423) that lasted for nine years as she was a three-time First Team All-LSC selection while earning All-Region accolades twice, she was named an AVCA Third Team All-American her senior season. 
 
Lauren began a successful coaching career at her alma mater, Hereford High School, where she coached a pair of WT Volleyball All-Americans following by a stop at Decatur High School where she won two State Championships (2020, 2021). She is currently the head volleyball coach at Alvin High School.
 
Norma Cunigan
One of the most decorated track & field athletes in West Texas A&M history takes her rightful spot in the Hall of Champions. Norma Cunigan was a nine-time All-American that won the discus National Title at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 
Norma was part of the 2017 NCAA Outdoor National Championship and the 2018 NCAA Indoor National Championship squads for the Lady Buffs. She was named the USTFCCCA Outdoor Regional Women's Field Athlete of the Year in 2016 as well as the 2018 LSC Outstanding Female Field Athlete of the Year. She is one of four student-athletes in school history to earn All-American honors as both a freshman and sophomore.
 
Cunigan recently graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University in Dallas. 
 
Ashley Hardin
Ashley Hardin became one of the most feared hitters in Lone Star Conference softball history during her historic career from 2015-18. She set new league record in homeruns (83) and RBI (266) while still holding the NCAA Division II career record with eight grand slams. 
 
Hardin's 83 career homeruns are second all-time in Division II history while she also sits third in total bases (610) and fourth in RBI (266). She started in 224 career games in Maroon & White, hitting .392 with 63 doubles, nine triples and 83 long balls to drive in 266 RBI with a slugging percentage of .854. She earned five different All-American honors during her time in Canyon as she was the Most Valuable Player of the Lone Star Conference Tournament in 2016 and 2017.
 
Ashley led the Lady Buffs to 187 victories during her career including a run to the 2016 NCAA Division II College World Series. Hardin was named the 2017 Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year as her mark of 72 multi-hit games is still a West Texas A&M program record.
 
Duane Joubert
Duane Joubert was a standout on the gridiron for the Buffaloes from 1992-1995. He led all of Division II football in kickoff returns and punt returns during his freshman campaign as he still holds West Texas A&M school record in kickoff returns (91), kickoff return yards (2,281) and kickoff return touchdowns (3).
 
Joubert ranks fifth in program history in career receptions (179) and 11th in receiving yards (1,952). The Beaumont native was named a Third Team All-American in 1994 as well as Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference accolades in 1995. Following college, Duane spent time with the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
 
Duane has put together an impressive high school coaching career, winning a pair of basketball State Championships at Kountze High School and accumulating over 600 career victories. He also served as the school's Athletic Director while coaching football, cross country and tennis for the Lions.
 
Shanna McBroom
Shanna McBroom joins an illustrious list of Lady Buffs as members of the WTAMU Hall of Champions. The 2021 NFCA National Player of the Year finished her college career leading West Texas A&M Softball to the program's second Division II National Championship. 
 
The Sachse, Texas product started 213 games in Maroon & White from 2017-2021 as the Lady Buffs won 172 games during that stretch with two LSC Tournament titles. She hit .387 at the plate with 38 doubles, 15 triples and 36 homeruns to drive in 135 RBI while stealing 70 bases. As a senior, McBroom led the nation in stolen bases (35) and ranked second in the country in hits (80) as she was named the Lone Star Conference and South Central Region Player of the Year while also becoming the first WT player to win the NFCA National Catcher of the Year award.
 
The 2021 Lone Star Conference Female Athlete of the Year spent time on the coaching staff at the University of Memphis, earning a Bachelor's Degree from the UM Loewenberg College of Nursing. She currently works as a registered nurse at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
 
Khiry Robinson
NCAA Division II All-American and four-year National Football League veteran Khiry Robinson takes his rightful place in the WTAMU Hall of Champions. The Belton, Texas native registered 2,323 yards on the ground during his two seasons in Canyon (2011-2012), scoring 32 career touchdowns with 612 receiving yards. Robinson was named the 2012 Kanza Bowl Most Valuable Player as well as a D2Football All-American during his senior season.
 
Robinson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints in 2013, earning a roster spot and playing a key role for the Saints in their playoff run during his rookie season. Robinson's NFL career spanned four seasons with the Saints and New York Jets as he played in 29 career games with 788 yards on 194 carries with eight touchdowns. He was also part of the 2009 NJCAA National Championship squad at Blinn College. 
 
Khiry is currently a philanthropist and digital creator living in Mountain City, Texas.
 
Abraham Seaneke
Abraham Seaneke was a seven-time All-American for West Texas A&M from 2017-2019. The 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Triple Jump National Champion was named the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Male Field Athlete of the Year as he still holds WT's indoor and outdoor school record mark in the triple jump.
 
The Kokrobite, Ghana native is a four-time Lone Star Conference Champion, setting a new league meet record in the triple jump during the 2019 LSC Outdoor Championships. Seaneke won both the triple jump and long jump during the historic Texas Relays as a senior to earn USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors.
 
Seaneke holds the second-best long jump mark in all conditions every by a Ghanaian, retiring from the sport in March of 2025. Abraham is the Founder of TheSeanCast, a platform dedicated to promoting African athletes and sharing their unique stories along with TheSeanConet, connecting undiscovered African and International athletes with college coaches.
 
Norman White
Norman White led the Buffaloes in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns for four consecutive seasons from 1993-1996 as he sits third on West Texas A&M's all-time rushing list with 3,422 career yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry while scoring 34 touchdowns.
 
White registered consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons in 1993 (1,109) and 1994 (1,122) as he scored 18 touchdowns as a sophomore in 1994. Norman was an Honorable Mention All-American during his freshman and sophomore season, being nominated for the Harlon Hill Award twice. The 1995 season saw White earn Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference honors rushing for 799 yards and six touchdowns.
 
Following his time in Canyon, Norman served as a Juvenile Probation Officer as well as an Investigative Worker with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. He is the CEO of Kavics Catering as well as Gee Tha Hard Way Management LLC in Houston.
