CANYON, TEXAS – The road to Chattanooga, Tennessee continues this weekend as the #6 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M host the #22 Oklahoma Christian Eagles in a best-of-three series at Schaeffer Park in Canyon during the 2026 NCAA Division II Softball South Central Super Regionals. Game one is set for Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. followed by game two on Friday (4:00 p.m.) with the if necessary game to follow.
 
THIS IS LADY BUFF SOFTBALL
West Texas A&M Softball is in their 21st season of NCAA competition as the Lady Buffs are a staggering 831-332 (.715) since reviving the program prior to the 2006 campaign. WT has won three South Central Regional Championships (2014, 2016, 2021) along with a pair of NCAA Division II National Championships (2014, 2021).
 
LADY BUFFS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Lady Buffs are making the program's 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) as they host the South Central Super Regional Championships for the third time (2014, 2016, 2026). The Lady Buffs are 48-29 (.6023) all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
 
WT HEAD COACH MICHAEL MOOK
In just six seasons, Michael Mook has led West Texas A&M to a 292-68 (.811) mark while claiming the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship. Mook is a three-time Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year (2024, 2025, 2026) who has led the Lady Buffs to five NCAA Postseason appearances (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025. 2026). 
 
Mook recently agreed to a three-year contract extension to keep him the WT dugout until atleast the Summer of 2028. A new era of Lady Buff softball began on June 20, 2019, as Mook was hired as the third head coach in program history. Mook went 154-61 during his four-year tenure at Valley City State University including an impressive 54-5 in 2019 leading the Vikings to their third-ever appearance at the NAIA World Series.
 
A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
Oklahoma Christian enters the week with an overall record of 42-14 as they went a perfect 3-0 in Denver to punch their ticket to the South Central Super Regionals. The Eagles outscored their opponents 23-7 last weekend as they topped UT Tyler and Colorado Christian (twice). 
 
Kallie Rupp leads the way offensively for the Eagles as the junior infielder from Morrison, Oklahoma is hitting .394 with 15 doubles, two triples and 11 homers to drive in a team-high 50 RBI for a slugging percentage of .691 to go along with six walks and 19 strikeouts in 175 AB's for an on-base clip of .424.
 
OC features one of the top pitching staffs in the nation as Ella Resendiz and Jill Dickson have combined for 32 victories including 20 complete games and seven shutouts. Resendiz is 15-0 with a 2.18 ERA, striking out 141 batters in 135.0 frames. Dickson is a four-year standout for the Eagles, entering the weekend with 67 career victories and 591 strikeouts.
 
OC HEAD COACH SHALEE RODRIGUEZ
Shalee Rodriguez is in her fifth season guiding the Oklahoma Christian softball program, leading the Eagles to an overall record of 42-14 with five trips to the NCAA Postseason including a pair of appearances in the Super Regional round.
 
THE SERIES
Thursday afternoon marks the 26th all-time meeting on the diamond between the Lady Buffs and Eagles. WT is 15-10 in the series that dates back to 2014, Oklahoma Christian is 5-5 all-time at Schaeffer Park. Oklahoma Christian holds the 2-1 advantage during NCAA Tournament contests.
 
EAGLES IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Oklahoma Christian is making their seventh appearance in the NCAA Division II Softball Postseason (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) and their second trip to the Super Regional Round. OC is 13-12 (.520) in the NCAA Tournament with three of those victories coming at Schaeffer Park in 2024.

NFCA DIVISION II FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR FINALIST
West Texas A&M's Brooke Janning has been named one of eight finalists for the 2026 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Freshman of the Year award announced on Wednesday by the association's offices in Louisville, Kentucky.
 
The Blair, Nebraska product has claimed First Team All-Region accolades by both the NFCA and D2CCA. Janning is 23-3 in the circle with a 2.56 ERA as the left-hander has tossed 12 complete games, allowing 65 runs (57 earned) on 150 hits with 30 walks and 129 strikeouts in her 156.0 innings of work. Janning has started all 57 games of the season for the Lady Buffs, hitting .425 with 13 doubles, two triples and nine homeruns to drive in 50 RBI for a slugging percentage of .726 to claim First Team All-Lone Star Conference honors while also being named to the LSC All-Freshman Team.
 
LADY BUFFS CLAIM ALL-REGION ACCOLADES
The awards continue to roll in for West Texas A&M softball as five Lady Buffs were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as well as the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) with the announcement of the 2026 All-South Central Region Teams.
 
De Los Santos was joined on the NFCA All-South Central Region First Team by Trinity Kuntz, Bella Holland and Brooke Janning. The D2CCA selected De Los Santos as the region's Player of the Year while Holland and Janning earned First Team honors, Abby Howell was named to the D2CCA Second Team.
 
LSC POSTSEASON AWARDS
Nine Lady Buffs claimed accolades highlighted by Jordyn De Los Santos winning LSC Player of the Year honors while Michael Mook was tabbed the league's Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
 
De Los Santos was joined on the LSC First Team by Trinity Kuntz, Bella Holland, Mya Chacon, Brooke Janning and Cadence Colborn. The Second Team featured Abby Howell and Laci Peskey while Emily Liskai and Heaven Moreno claimed Third Team accolades. Janning and Holland were both named to the All-Freshman squad while Liskai earned Golden Glove acclaim. Colborn, Liskai and Avery Cannon were honored for their efforts in the classroom as members of the All-Academic team.
