CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's
Esther Conde-Turpin set a new school record in the women's indoor pentathlon on Friday to highlight the UNM Collegiate Classic at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The senior from Reunion Island, France proved why she is one of the top multi-athletes in the country as she registered 4,341 points to break Libby Stricklad's 11-year-old mark of 3,856 points set back in 2015 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Conde-Turpin won both the high jump (1.76m) and the shot put (13.05m) while finishing second in the other three events. The senior registered a second-place overall finishl behind University of Arizona standout Hollan Powers (4,440) who competed unattached. Both Powers and Conde-Turpin bested the previous facility record of 4,258 points set by Conde-Turpin in 2024.

The Buffs featured a pair of great performances in the heptathlon as
Fran Bonifacic finished sixth overall with a total of 5,402 points followed by
Nikolas Kosmopoulos in seventh (5,004). Bonifacic's total marks the third best indoor heptathlon score in program history while Kosmopoulos now sits fourth on the WT Top 10 list.

Bonifacic would finish second in the shot put (13.66m) along with third-place finishes in the pole vault (4.50m) and the 1,000m (2:47.16). Kosmopoulos was the runner-up in the 60m (7.05) while finishing sixth in both the high jump (1.87m) and the 60m hurdles (8.48).

WT returns to the track on Friday and Saturday as they will compete at both the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock as well as the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
