Defense Shuts Down Falcons in 2-0 Shutout Victory as Lady Buffs Extend Win Streak to Five Games- October 13, 2026
WT set the tone early with three shots (one on goal) and a corner kick through the first 13 minutes. The Lady Buffs stayed in their attacking zone for most of the half and consistently created scoring opportunities but could not find the back of the net. Defensively, West Texas A&M was strong and did not allow a shot until the 26th minute, which would be saved by Franciezca Blancaflor. The Lady Buffs limited possession by the Falcons as they had few chances with possession in their attacking half. In the 38th minute, WT would be tested by a corner kick which resulted in a scrum deep in the box. UTPB had two good chances to get on the board, but Blancaflor made a pair of crucial saves during a five-second stretch to keep them off the board. The Lady Buffs would go into halftime tied 0-0 as they outshot the Falcons 15-4 in the half.

Moving into the second half, WT was able to break through almost instantly as they took a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute. Riley Sims would take a corner kick for the Lady Buffs and perfectly placed it right in front of the keeper. Charo Rodriguez Fortea would leap for the ball and head it into the top of the goal just past the keepers' outstretched hand to break the tie. As they did in the first half, West Texas A&M continued to dominate possession with a consistent driving force of offense to push the Falcons back. The 66th minute would see WT double their lead as they had a free kick just outside the box. Rodriguez Fortea took the kick and fired a laser beam into the top right corner for her second goal of the game. While the Lady Buffs offense continued to produce, the defense shut down all opportunities to get on the board as they did not allow a shot in the second half. As a unit, WT moved cohesively and were able to stop any threatening chances by the Falcons in their defensive half. The score would finalize at 2-0 in favor of West Texas A&M as they won their fifth consecutive game.

Lady Buffs Keep Wagon Wheel in 4-0 Victory Over Eastern New Mexico- October 17, 2026
WT nearly struck first three minutes into the game as they were awarded a penalty kick. Riley Sims would hit the crossbar on her kick but made up for a score 13 minutes later. In their attacking zone, Sienna Hurrell crossed a ball into the box where Sims finished the chance with her right foot past the keeper to give WT a 1-0 lead. The Lady Buffs continued to pressure the Greyhounds and while they did not score, opportunities were consistently created which would later come to fruition. Defensively, the Lady Buffs were strong across the backline as they limited ENMU to only two shots with none coming on goal. That 1-0 for WT would hold going into the halftime break.

Moving into the second half, WT found two early goals in the 54th and 56th minute to triple their lead. The first was scored by Braely Martinez who capitalized on a misplay by the ENMU keeper on a breakaway chance. Sims made a great run to speed up the keeper who made an arrant pass that got picked off by Martinez. Just outside the box, Martinez fired a shot into an open net with the keeper out of position. Two minutes later WT kept pressing as the ball worked its way into the box. Off a deflection on a shot, Martinez corralled the ball and nicked it to Mollie Ferro right in front of the keeper. Ferro went high with her shot and found the meshing as WT took the 3-0 lead. The Lady Buffs would score one more time in the 75th minute after a Sims slipped a pass to Sarah Hernandez Lopez who snuck by the defense in the box. Hernandez Lopez took a shot to the bottom left corner for the Lady Buffs fourth goal of the afternoon. West Texas A&M kept Eastern New Mexico off the board the remainder of the game with a combined shutout by Franciezca Blancaflor and Sydney Nanz. The score finalized at 4-0 as the Wagon Wheel will once again reside in Canyon.
