RICHARDSON, TEXAS – West Texas A&M Women's Soccer junior
Riley Sims was named Lone Star Conference (LSC) Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week following the Lady Buffs undefeated 2-0-0 week. Sims produced her second straight game with a hat trick as it came against No. 8 Midwestern State.
Sims became the first player in the game-by-game era (2011+) to record consecutive games with a hat trick in the Lady Buffs 3-1 win against previously unbeaten No. 8 Midwestern State on Wednesday. The Harker Heights, Texas native scored in the 5th, 13th, and 17th minute to help WT knock off the Mustangs.
Against UT Tyler on Saturday, Sims served as a key connecting piece in the Lady Buffs 2-1 win. She played 61 minutes.
For the week, she tied for the conference lead in goals (3) and points (6) while finishing third in shots with nine. She is the first Lady Buff since Asha James in 2022 to be named LSC Offensive Player of the Week twice in a season.
Sims and the rest of the Lady Buffs will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to UT Permian Basin. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
