CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field broke a pair of school records on Saturday afternoon as they competed at the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech University at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.

The Lady Buffs registered eight NCAA provisional marks over the two-day event along with a pair of broken school records.
Asana Hamidu ran a time of 1:20.29 in the women's 600 yards to finish third, setting a new WT record followed by running the third leg of the new record holding 4x400m relay squad with
Sandra Appiah,
Abigail Abugire and
Blessing Akintoye (3:39.15).Â

Akintoye also claimed a second-place finish in the 400m with a time of 53.22 followed by Appiah in 15
th (55.53). Abugire impressed in the women's mile with a time of 4:57.50 to finish second overall followed by
Kalkidan Vincendeau in 3
rd (4:57.74) and
Sarah Koomson in 5
th (4:58.85).

The other Lady Buff 4x4 relay team of
Sierra Cornell,
Priscilla Anaglo,
Cassandra Uribe,
Esther Conde-Turpin finished 14
th with a provisional mark of 3:47.45. Conde-Turpin continued her strong start to the season with 7
th place finishes in both the long jump (6.01m) and the high jump (1.66m).
Hope Gray registered a throw of 16.81m to place sixth in the weight throw.

The Buffs tallied five NCAA provisional marks in Lubbock with four of them coming in the 60m Dash. Four different Buffs qualified for the semifinals in the loaded meet:
Jerry Jakpa (6.78),
Kareem Small (6.76),
Isaac Botsio (6.66) and
James Dadzie (6.62). Botsio and Dadzie would be the only two Division II athletes in the finals with Dadzie finishing 4
th (6.63) followed by Botsio in 5
th (6.63).

Adrian Legarreta claimed a victory in the men's mile with a time of 4:09.86 followed by
Fintan Kavanagh in 7
th (4:16.10) and
Branch Cox in 8
th (4:16.72).Â

West Texas A&M returns to the track on January 30-31 as they travel to Albuquerque to take part in the New Mexico Team Open held by UNM at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
