CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M started their season off with a win on Friday morning as they scored just 15 teams points at the Aggie Duels hosted by Cameron University.
 
The first five runners to cross the finish line were wearing Maroon & White as Sarah Koomson claimed the individual crown with a time of 17:50.93 on the 5K course. 
 
Eliette Chaput finished second (17:57.58) followed by Naomi Addo (18:02.52), Abigail Abugire (18:03.06) and Julie Lafare (18:06.09). Yvonne Legarreta crossed the line with a time of 20:02.40 to finish 26^th followed by Isabella Celis in 50^th (21:22.34).
 
The Lady Buffs registered 15 total team points for a 45-point margin over East Central (60). Midwestern State finished third (76) followed by the host Aggies (110) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (121) to round out the top five.
 
WT returns to the course next Friday as they make the short trip down Interstate 27 to compete in the Texas Tech Invite hosted at the LCU Cross Country Course.
