LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. – No. 8 West Texas A&M Women's Cross Country took to Tom Sawyer State Park Saturday morning at the Louisville Classic as they cruised to a commanding victory.
Lola Sarthou finished second for WT.
The Lady Buffs would accumulate a new season low in points with 34 to win the meet with four Lady Buffs finishing in the top seven. West Texas A&M would win by 66 points as No. 13 Lee (100) came in second and were followed by East Tennessee State (168), Marshall (189), and Xavier (198).
West Texas A&M led the race throughout as they went wire-to-wire for the win.
Lola Sarthou and
Michelle Jemutai finished second (17:08.7) and third (17:17.8) after holding those spots the entirety of the competition.
Abigail Abugire climbed from 13th at the 2.1k split up to 5th at the 3.9k mark to grow the lead for WT. She would ultimately finish 4th (17:19.2).
Naomi Addo held a great pace throughout as she stayed in the top seven for all of the race to come away with a 7th-place finish (17:27.9).
Ella Schuettler was the final Lady Buff to score points as she finished 21st (18:06.7). Schuettler made great pushes throughout the race as she went from 42nd at the 2.1k split down to 31st at the 3.9k split to her final placing of 21st.
