Tom Brown has announced the addition of Barton Community College transfer James Parlow Jr. for the 2025-26 campaign.

"James is a great young man who can play at a very high level. Defensively he is exactly what we need and are looking for with our team this coming year" said Brown "He is a tough, strong player who does all of the little things to make a team better.  James can also really shoot it and score in multiple ways.  I look forward to working with and going to battle night in and out with James as he is a competitor."

Parlow Jr. comes to Canyon following one season at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas. He saw time in 28 games with six starts for the Cougars, going 59-of-134 (44%) from the floor including 13-of-39 (33.3%) from behind the arc to average 5.8 points per contest to go along with 102 rebounds (39 offensive, 63 defensive), 23 assists and 33 steals. The Cougars went 26-9 last season with a trip to the second round of the NJCAA Division I Championships.

The New Orleans native spent his freshman campaign at North Arkansas College where he started 31 games for the Pioneers. Parlow Jr. registered the most blocks (34) from the guard position in NJCAA Division II during his lone season in Harrison as he averaged 12.2 points per contest to go along with 160 boards, 129 assists and 92 steals while shooting 43% (126-of-293) from the floor.

Last season, WT made the NCAA National Tournament for a ninth-consecutive season where three freshmen made the LSC All-Freshman team. The Buffs also posted a 3.48 GPA in the classroom. WT will open the 2025-26 season at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic, Oct. 31st at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo. against Missouri Western State and conclude the tournament on Nov. 1st at 5 p.m. against Pittsburg State.
