CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field set a pair of new school records on Friday during the annual Jo Meaker Classic & Multi at the Buffalo Sports Complex in Canyon, Texas.

The meet closes out tomorrow with 24 events starting at 11:00 a.m. with the women's high jump finals and concluding at 7:40 p.m. on the track with the men's 4x400m relay.

The women's heptathlon saw
Mara Andritsch register 2,937 points over the first four events to lead the event followed by
Kailee Benton in fourth (2,739). Andritsch finished fifth in the 100m (15.00) along with second in the high jump (1.65m), third in the shot put (10.75m) and 13
th in the 200m (26.89).

Romet Vahter, an NCAA Indoor All-American last month, impressed in the decathlon on Thursday as the junior from Estonia registered 4,057 points over the first five events including a second-place finish in the high jump (7.48m) followed by a win in the shot put (13.76m).Â

Andritsch would claim a victory in the heptathlon with 4,815 points as the German product finished third in the long jump (5.50m), first in the javelin (37.02m) and eighth in the 800m (2:40.45).Â

Vahter would win the heptathlon with a great Friday afternoon performance, holding the 10
th most points in school history (6,977) with the 1,500m still to run, Romet ran a time of 4:50.61 to claim 615 points on his way to breaking a 41-year-old school record with 7,592 points previously held by Keith Stewart in 1984 (7,574).

Luke Holcombe continued his impressive career later in the afternoon with a new school record in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.86m to win the event in Canyon, the record was previously held by Zach Weatherley in 2014 (17.83m).
Ethan Hollinshead would finish fifth in the event (16.26m).

Anas Fadil registered the ninth-best mark in program history in the men's triple jump with a jump of 15.57m to win the event.
Peace Nwaelehia (53.10) and
Blessing Akintoye (53.37) run a pair of Top-10 marks school marks in the women's 400m to finish 2nd and 3rd overall.
Yvonne Legarreta impressed in the women's 1,500m with a time of 4:52.31 to finish 2
