CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M played lock-down defense on Thursday night as they forced 21 turnovers in an 81-47 Lone Star Conference road victory over the Sul Ross State Lobos at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas.
 
Kyla Kane led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the junior from Wellington went 7-of-12 from the floor including 3-of-6 from behind the arc for a game-high 18 points to go along with four rebounds. 
Taylor Haggan finished with 14 points followed by 
Hollie Stalder (11) and 
Randi Harding (10) also in double-figures. Haggan and 
Claire Graham each snagged seven boards while Graham and 
Grace Alvarez dished out four assists each. 
 
The Lady Buffs went 30-of-69 (43.5%) from the field including 6-of-20 (30%) from deep and 15-of-23 (65.2%) from the free throw line with 45 rebounds (11 offensive, 34 defensive), 16 assists, 11 turnovers, six blocks and eight steals in the win.
 
Melody Martinez paced the Sul Ross offense as she went 5-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-7 from behind the arc for a team-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds. The Lobos finished the game going 17-of-62 (27.4%) from the floor including 5-of-23 (21.7%) from deep and 8-of-10 (80%) from the line with 32 rebounds, seven assists, 21 turnovers, one block and six steals.
 
The Lady Buffs close out their regular season road schedule on Saturday afternoon as they make their way to Silver City, New Mexico to take on the Mustangs of Western New Mexico with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. CT at Drag's Court.
