CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M close out their regular season scheduled on Wednesday night as they travel to Austin, Texas to take on the St. Edward's Hilltoppers starting at 7:00 p.m. at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
 
ST. MARY'S REWIND
The Buffs clinched a spot in the Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon as they used first half goals by D'Jonte Davis and Felix Casas along with strong defensive pressure in the second half to secure a 2-1 victory over St. Mary's during WT's regular season home finale at The Pitch.
 
A LOOK AT THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's enters the final match of the regular season with a mark of 7-5-4 including a 5-2-2 record in Lone Star Conference action. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 1-1 tie at Dallas Baptist last Saturday afternoon. St. Edward's is 4-2-2 at home so far this season as they sit tied for third in the LSC standings.
 
Filip Adamski leads the way offensively for the Hilltoppers as the redshirt freshman midfielder from Poland has scored a team-best six goals to go along with an assist for a total of 13 points. Adamski has registered 15 shots with seven of them coming on goal including a game-winner.
 
SEU HEAD COACH BRIAN YOUNG
Brian Young is in his 19th season at the helm of the St. Edward's men's soccer program. He is the program's all-time leader in career wins (184), surpassing Mike Smith during the 2024 campaign. He is also the all-time leader in career win percentage, conference wins, and conference win percentage.
 
THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series with St. Edward's, 16-11-1 in a series that started in 1998. Last season saw the Buffs use a Zakaria Daaou goal assisted by Matteo Landais in the 34th minute to claim a 1-0 victory over the Hilltoppers on Senior Day in Canyon. 
 
WT HEAD COACH BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is now in his 35th season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M. Lauffer is the longest tenured head coach in WT history in a storied career dating back to 1991. Lauffer reached the 500-win plateau on Sept. 30, 2017 with a dominating 13-2 win over UT Permian Basin. 
 
During his tenure, Lauffer coached the men to 31 consecutive non-losing seasons from 1993 to 2023 and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 388-184-60 (.665) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 578-251-76 (.683) overall record at WT.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
West Texas A&M was picked fifth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
Midwestern State claimed 16 of the possible 33 first place votes for 338 points to sit atop of the poll followed by St. Mary's (13 first place, 331), St. Edward's (three first place, 297), DBU (241), West Texas A&M (239), Lubbock Christian (169), UT Tyler (161), Oklahoma Christian (134), UT Dallas (104), Texas A&M International (one first place, 86) and Sul Ross State (78).
 
Arthur Souza of St. Edward's was tabbed the league's Preseason Player of the Year while Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin from St. Mary's claimed Defensive and Goalkeeper Preseason Honors.
