CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M soccer returns to The Pitch on Saturday afternoon as they welcome the Patriots of Dallas Baptist for Lone Star Conference action starting at 1:00 p.m. in Canyon.

UT DALLAS REWIND
The Buffaloes struggled offensively last Saturday afternoon, snapping a two-game win streak as they fell to the Comets of UT Dallas, 2-0 at UTD Soccer Complex in Richardson.

A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Dallas Baptist enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-5-2 with a 1-2-1 mark in LSC action. DBU dropped a 3-0 decision to ninth-ranked Midwestern State on Wednesday night in Dallas. The Patriots have struggled away from their home field this season as they are 1-4-1 on the road in 2025.

Caleb Centeno leads the way offensively for the Patriots as the freshman midfielder from Irving, Texas has scored four goals to go along with two assists for a team-best 10 points. Centeno has registered eight shots with five of them coming on goal to go along with a pair of game winners.

DBU HEAD COACH JESS JOBE
Jess Jobe is in his fifth season as head coach of the DBU Men's Soccer program, where he has quickly established the Patriots as a rising contender in the Lone Star Conference. Since taking over in 2021, Jobe has guided DBU to three straight LSC Tournament appearances, including the program's first trip to the championship match in 2023, and produced five All-South Central Region selections along with 21 All-LSC honorees.

THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series with Dallas Baptist 16-2-1 in a series that dates to 1992. The Buffs won the first 16 meetings in the series before the Patriots pulled out a 1-1 draw in the LSC Tournament in 2023. Last year saw the teams battle twice as DBU claimed a 2-1 victory in Dallas during the regular season followed by a 3-2 thrilling win in double overtime during the LSC Tournament in Canyon.

WT HEAD COACH BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is now in his 35th season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M. Lauffer is the longest tenured head coach in WT history in a storied career dating back to 1991. Lauffer reached the 500-win plateau on Sept. 30, 2017 with a dominating 13-2 win over UT Permian Basin.Â

During his tenure, Lauffer coached the men to 31 consecutive non-losing seasons from 1993 to 2023 and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 387-181-60 (.665) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 577-248-76 (.683) overall record at WT.

LSC PRESEASON POLL
West Texas A&M was picked fifth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Midwestern State claimed 16 of the possible 33 first place votes for 338 points to sit atop of the poll followed by St. Mary's (13 first place, 331), St. Edward's (three first place, 297), DBU (241), West Texas A&M (239), Lubbock Christian (169), UT Tyler (161), Oklahoma Christian (134), UT Dallas (104), Texas A&M International (one first place, 86) and Sul Ross State (78).

Arthur Souza of St. Edward's was tabbed the league's Preseason Player of the Year while Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin from St. Mary's claimed Defensive and Goalkeeper Preseason Honors.
