NEW ORLEANS, LA – West Texas A&M Buff,
Isaac Botsio, earns the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career.
Isaac Botsio | Sophomore | Sprints | Takoradi, Ghana
Issac Botsio is the fastest man in the world right now. At least in the 100 meters, regardless of wind reading.
The West Texas A&M sophomore tore across the track at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi to a 9.90 (+2.2) mark in the 100 meters, which also gave him the second-fastest all-conditions mark in NCAA DII history. Later, Botsio helped the Buffs' 4×100 relay to a time of 39.90.
Despite posting a slew of impressive marks last year, this is the first time in his career that Botsio has dipped below the 10-second barrier. Botsio will need to repeat the feat in a wind legal setting if he wants the divisional record however, as that title resides with former WTAMU standout
Benjamin Azamati.
This is the second time that Botsio has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the Outdoor Track and Field season. Botsio previously earned national weekly honors on April 11, 2023.
