ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The No. 8 Lady Buffs were highlighted by the pentathletes,
Elliot Harrison and
Laiten Greeson, today at the NM Collegiate Classic and Multi meet held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The two-day meet saw West Texas A&M Lady Buff field athletes competing against top NCAA Division I competition with the likes of No. 18 Texas, Arkansas State, Georgia and TCU to name a few.
PENTATHLON
In the 18-field competition, junior
Elliot Harrison came away with 8
th place with her personal best score of 3,559 points. Harrison ran a personal best in the 800-meter (2:27.05) and had a personal best in the long jump (5.52m) where she finished in 6
th place in both events. Harrison ranked in the top-10 at No. 8 all-time in points scored in the pentathlon.
Laiten Greeson took 12
th place over Arizona, Iowa and Air Force competitors. Greeson shined in the 60m hurdles coming in 5
th place with a time of 8.81.
FIELD EVENTS
Two Lady Buffs had personal bests with
Jada Sewell throwing 12.96m in the shot put and leading the Lady Buffs. Freshman
Audrey Uzoukwu jumped 11.37m in the triple jump for her personal best while junior Hekla Magnusdottir led the Lady Buffs in the event at 11.80m. In addition, the Lady Buffs finished with nine personal bests in the two-day meet with
Elliot Harrison having three new personal bests in the long jump, 800-meter and pentathlon score.
COMING UP
The Lady Buffs will have a split weekend next Friday and Saturday as track and field travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Jarvis Scott Open and the distance track athletes travel to Boston, Massachusetts for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
