ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The No. 2 Buffs finished with two personal bests, two top-10 finishes and three WT top-10 performances at the NM Collegiate Classic and Multi meet held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The two-day meet saw West Texas A&M Buff field athletes competing against top NCAA Division I competition with the likes of No. 7 Texas, Arizona, Arkansas State and TCU to name a few.
FIELD EVENTS
Luke Holcombe threw his third personal best and 3
rd top throw in WT top-10 in the shot put at 17.48m (57'4.25) placing 5
th out of 25 competitors.
Gerard Bryant placed 11
th in the heptathlon with 4,915 points ranking 8
th all-time in WT top-10. Bryant had a 3
rd place finish in the shot put throwing 14.34m along with a 5
thplace finish in the 60-meter race. Junior
Hamdi Ali continued to place in WT top-10 at 6
th in the high jump hitting a 2.12m mark and finishing 3
rd in the event in Albuquerque.
From day one,
Korbin Preston and
Ethan Hollinshead had personal bests in the weight throw.
COMING UP
The Buffs will have a split weekend next Friday and Saturday as track and field travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Jarvis Scott Open and the distance track athletes travel to Boston, Massachusetts for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
