Buffs place couple in top-5 in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The No. 2 Buffs finished with two personal bests, two top-10 finishes and three WT top-10 performances at the NM Collegiate Classic and Multi meet held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center. 
 
The two-day meet saw West Texas A&M Buff field athletes competing against top NCAA Division I competition with the likes of No. 7 Texas, Arizona, Arkansas State and TCU to name a few.
 
FIELD EVENTS
Luke Holcombe threw his third personal best and 3rd top throw in WT top-10 in the shot put at  17.48m (57'4.25) placing 5th out of 25 competitors. Gerard Bryant placed 11th in the heptathlon with 4,915 points ranking 8th all-time in WT top-10. Bryant had a 3rd place finish in the shot put throwing 14.34m along with a 5thplace finish in the 60-meter race. Junior Hamdi Ali continued to place in WT top-10 at 6th in the high jump hitting a 2.12m mark and finishing 3rd in the event in Albuquerque. 
 
From day one, Korbin Preston and Ethan Hollinshead had personal bests in the weight throw. 
 
COMING UP 
The Buffs will have a split weekend next Friday and Saturday as track and field travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Jarvis Scott Open and the distance track athletes travel to Boston, Massachusetts for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
