CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes look to defend their crown on Saturday morning at the 2024 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships being held at Dick Kleberg Park. The 8K race begins at 9:00 a.m.
 
The Buffs have won 11 straight LSC Cross Country titles (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) which is the second longest stream in league history behind Abilene Christian (20, 1991-2010). 
 
Last year's race in Portales saw the Buffs register 15 total points, tying the lowest scoring total in LSC history. William Amponsah looks to defend his individual title as the reigning NCAA Cross Country National Champion ran a time of 25:56.6 last season for the second fastest time in LSC Championship history.
 
Enrico Oddone finished second during the 2023 LSC Championships with a time of 24:08.84 followed by Aziz Mohammed in third (24:30.39) and Adrian Legarreta in sixth (24:53.59).
 
West Texas A&M features seven student-athletes who have claimed an individual crown: Dylan Doss (2013), Geoffrey Kipchumba (2015, 2016), Owen Hind (2017), Ezekiel Kipchirchir (2019), Innocent Murwanashyaks (2021), Harry Lourador (2022) and Amponsah (2023).
 
The loaded West Texas A&M men's roster that is ranked third in the nation has their eyes on the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championships in Denver, Colorado on November 9^th followed by the DII National Championships on November 23 in Sacramento, California.
