CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head volleyball coach
Kendra Potts has announced the addition of local talent and Amarillo High School standout Currie Marusak for the 2024 campaign.
"Currie is going to bring a wealth of experience at a high level having played in the Big 12 the last two seasons. Her athleticism and drive to grow and compete are going to add value to an already highly talented team. This will also be a chance for her to compete back in her hometown and will be awesome for the community and her family! We are extremely grateful that Currie chose to come back and be a Lady Buff!"
Currie comes to Canyon following two seasons at Texas Tech University where she saw time in 22 matches for the Red Raiders. The 6'0 outside hitter earned Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team and played in 22 matches registering 1.07 kills per set with match high kills (6) against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and College of Charleston along with digs (11) against Oral Roberts.
Marusak was a four-year letterwinner at Amarillo High School where she ran track and played volleyball earning All-District, All-Region and All-State distinction during her career. Marusak was named Newcomer of the Year and All-District Newcomer as a freshman and she picked up District MVP and AVCA Under Armour Phenom honors while setting the Amarillo High single season kills record with over 600 kills.
