CANYON, Tx - The 2023 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Programs of the Year were announced Tuesday afternoon. The West Texas A&M Track and Field Buffs and Lady Buffs placed in the top-3 nationally.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year awards honor the institutions that have achieved the most success in each academic year. The overall program of the year awards include the cross country, indoor track & field and the outdoor track & field season finishes at each of the NCAA Championships.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each NCAA Championship in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field National Championships.
BUFFS
The Buffs tied for third in the Program of the Year standings. The Buffs qualified in all three NCAA National Championships this year with cross country finishing 15
th in the nation, indoor track and field finished 4
th in the nation and outdoor track and field finished as runners-up. The Buffs finished out the year with 22 points, the same as the Pittsburg mens team and behind Missouri Southern and Grand Valley State.
LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs finished third in the Program of the Year Standings. The Lady Buffs qualified in all three NCAA National Championships this year with cross country finishing 13
th in the nation, indoor track and field finished 3
rd in the nation and outdoor track and field finished 3
rd in the nation as well. The Lady Buffs had 19 team points and finished behind Grand Valley State and Adams State.
