DALLAS, TX- The No. 6 nationally ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M (25-3, 14-2 LSC) head into the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament ranked No. 2 and are set to go up against the No. 7 conference ranked Texas Woman's Pioneers (19-8, 11-5 LSC) in the quarterfinals round on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Dallas, TX at the Burg Center at 2:30 p.m.

The LSC Championship banquet will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. and can be live streamed via the lonestarconferecenetwork.com. 
 
LIVE COVERAGE
All matches for the Lone Star Conference Championships will be covered by the DBU athletic communication department with streaming on the lonestarconferencenetwork.com. 
 
Every match of the LSC Volleyball Championship will be available on the LSC Digital Network or on the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase each match for $15. Customers who have a monthly or yearly LSC Digital Network pass will have access to all tournament matches.
 
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Texas Woman's (Nov. 16 | 2:30 PM) 
The Pioneers are led by seventh year head coach Jeff Huebner. TWU is coming into the LSC Championship tournament ranked seventh with Coach Huebner looking for his 100th win at the helm. The Pioneers have defeated Texas A&M International, UT Permian Basin and Texas A&M Kingsville this season to secure a spot in the top eight of the conference. 
 
The Pioneers have a balanced offense with outsides Tori Woods and Kaia Saylor leading in kills with 266 and 255 each. Setters, Grace Reynolds and Kiana Reed run the offense in a 6-2 formation and have a combined 1,030 assists. Defensively TWU libero Luna Franca has 442 digs on the season. TWU is outscoring the Lady Buffs in kills per set averaging 13.88 over WT's 13.57 and in aces per set with 1.83. 
 
A WIN WOULD...
A win against the Texas Woman's Pioneers would advance the Lady Buffs to the semi-finals to compete against the winner of the match between Angelo State and UT Tyler. The semi-finals match will be played on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Burg Center.
 
A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
Action starts on Thursday at 12 p.m. with No. 3 Angelo State against No. 6 UT Tyler followed by No. 2 WT versus No. 7 TWU at 2:30 p.m. No. 1 DBU faces No. 8 Texas A&M International at 5:00 p.m. and No. 4 UAFS meets No. 5 Texas A&M-Kingsville at 7:30 p.m.
 
WE'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE
The Lady Buffs will make the program's 29th LSC Tournament appearance on Thursday, which is the most by any LSC member. WT has recorded 17 tournament titles and has produced an overall 53-11 (.828) record during the tournament, including 17-1 in the finals with their most recent championship title win coming in 2022. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Buffs finished the regular Lone Star Conference season going 1-1 against Texas A&M Kingsville and Texas A&M International. The split weekend meant Dallas Baptist had hosting rights for the tournament even though WT and DBU had the same conference record (14-2). West Texas became regular season co-champions along with DBU with the Patriots hosting due to a head-to-head win earlier in the season against the Lady Buffs.
 
IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
The #6 Lady Buffs are the only LSC program represented in the national standings and have been in the top ten in the nation for the past eleven weeks. Three RMAC teams are ranked with MSU Denver (7th), Colorado Mesa (10th) and Regis (11th) with Dallas Baptist receiving votes. 
 
THE NUMBERS
WT is hitting .263 as a team which ranks first in the Lone Star Conference while leading the league in blocks per set (2.41) while also limiting opponents to hit just .156 which is the second lowest in the league.
 
The Lady Buffs are represented in the Top 10 of the LSC individual leader boards with middle blockers Taytum Stow (6th) and Carly Evetts (10th) in blocks per frame (1.21 and 1.01). Three Lady Buffs rank in the Top 15 in hitting percentage with Stow in eighth at .331 followed by Evetts (9th; .326) and Emma Becker (11th; .319). Setter Ainsley Malis ranks 8th in the LSC in assists per set with 6.45 while Bryli Contreras is fifth in digs per set 4.86.
 
MAKE IT A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Four players have recorded double-doubles this season with Torrey Miller, Ainsley Malis, Blair Moreland and Emma Becker totaling 15. Torrey Miller leads the category with seven on the season which includes 115 kills and 114 digs. Malis is second with five followed by Moreland with two and Becker with one, her first in her career at WT coming from the last regular season match against Texas A&M International with 15 kills and 10 digs.
 
REGIONALLY RANKED
Top ranked West Texas A&M stands first in the regional rankings followed by MSU Denver, Colorado Mesa, Regis, Angelo State, DBU, Texas Woman's, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Tyler, and Arkansas-Fort Smith. 
 
WT HEAD COACH KENDRA POTTS
Kendra Potts begins her fifth season at the helm of Lady Buff Volleyball with an overall 116-23 (.834) record and 66-12 (.846) in league play.  Potts led her alma mater to the program's 4th NCAA National Championship after capturing the South Central Regional title to become the sixth head coach in program history to guide WT to the Elite Eight. Coach Potts was named the AVCA Division II National Head Coach of the Year following her 33-4 record and 26 game winning streak for the 2022 season.
