CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M will have to salvage a Lone Star Conference series split on Sunday afternoon following Saturday's doubleheader split with the #19 Lubbock Christian Chaps at Wilder Park in Canyon.

The Buffs and Chaps conclude their series tomorrow afternoon with first pitch set for 1 p.m. at Wilder Park during Bark at the Park Day.

GAME ONE
The Chaps wasted little time getting on the board as George Mendezona lifted a solo homerun to right center field with one out followed later in the frame by a Larry Leitha homerun to left center for the 2-0 lead. WT used the long ball to take the lead in the bottom of the frame as
Adam Becker crushed a grand slam into the parking lot beyond the left field wall for the 4-2 lead.

WT added to their lead in the home half of the second as
Paul Wittmann scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs for the 5-2 advantage. LCU used the long ball to cut into the lead in the fourth as Leitha connected on his second of the afternoon, this time a solo shot to straight away center.

The Buffs added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as
Kennedy Badgett drounded into a fielder's choice that plated
Eddy Savoie for the 6-3 lead.Â

Maddux Hoaglund picked up the win (4-0) as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts in his 6.0 innings of work.
Colton Charnholm registered a strikeout against his only batter to start the final frame followed by
Reese Miller closing out the game for his fourth save.

GAME TWO
LCU got on the board first in the nightcap as Caden Hensley and Eduardo Acosta both drove in a pair with doubles followed later in the frame by Leitha's third homerun of the afternoon for the 6-0 lead. The Chaps added to their lead in the third as Caden Hensley singled thru the left side with two outs to score Cayde Ward for the 7-0 lead.

WT cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth as
Ryan Johnson scored from second on an LCU errant throw followed by a two-run opposite field homerun by
Eric Ortiz to left center to make it 7-3.Â

Jack Eagan picked up the loss (3-2) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing three six earned runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts in his 1.2 innings of work
