CSC Academic All-District

CANYON, Texas – Five West Texas A&M women's soccer players earned Academic All-District recognition for their efforts on the field and in the classroom. The award is selected by College Sports Communicators and moves the five Lady Buffs on to the national ballot.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete had to be a starter or important reserve appearing in at least 50 percent of the team's games. Additionally, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Of the five WT players,
Kyndahl Britton,
Reagan Heelan,
Maliyah Mendoza, and
Mandy Stricker earned Academic All-District for the first time while
Ashley Silvestre earns the award for the second time in her career.

Britton, Mendoza, Silvestre, and Stricker comprised a Lady Buff defense that held opponents to a 0.77 goals-against average on the season. The WT defense also held its opposition to a 0.071 shot percentage, allowing just 17 goals in 22 games.

In goal, Heelan proved to be one of the premier goalkeepers within the Lone Star Conference. The Kearney, Neb. Native allowed 17 goals while making 85 saves on 236 shots faced. Heelan ranked in the top five in the conference for every major goalkeeping category.

The Academic All-District team members move on to the CSC Academic All-America voting. The three teams will be announced on Dec. 6.
