GOODYEAR, Ariz. – West Texas A&M shot an opening round 9-over 297 to sit in a tie for second place at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. The Lady Buffs carded a total of 12 birdies as they trail leaders UT Tyler by three strokes after the opening 18 holes at the Par 72, 6,005-yard Palm Valley Golf Club.
Loukyeee Songprasert and
Kiersten Bryant are tied for 8
th at 1-over as they combined for six birdies during the opening 18 holes of the tournament. After shooting 3-over in her first 10 holes, Songprasert birdied the Par 5 2
nd and Par 3 7
th to put her four strokes back of UTT's Raelynn Hardgrave.
Bryant was even par through nine holes before picking up back-to-back birdies on the Par 5 2
nd and Parr3 3
rd. She would card a double bogey on the Par 5 5
th but finished strong with pars on three of the last four holes of the round.
Alyssa Campbell is tied for 20
th at 3-over after carding three birdies, four bogeys, one double bogey and 10 pars on Friday.
Rachel Huffman is just one stroke back at 4-over with
Rylie Cook sitting in a tie for 52
nd at 7-over.
