#5 Buffs Fall in the Series Finale to #10 Angelo State, 8-5

CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffs of West Texas A&M could never find a rhythm offensively on Sunday afternoon as they dropped the Lone Star Conference series finale to the #10 Angelo State Rams, 8-5 at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.

The Rams got on the board in the top of the first inning as Aaron Walters grounded into a fielder's choice with one out to score Josh Elvir from third for the 1-0 lead.

Angelo cut into the lead in the top of the sixth as Elvir tripled to right field to leadoff the frame followed by a Nick Seginowich RBI grounder to short. ASU used the long ball in the seventh as Nick Novak lifted a solo shot to right center to start the frame and knock Zach Dixon from the game, Chandler Dean entered and registered a pair of outs before an RBI infield single by Elvir tied the game at 4-4.

Novak struck again in the top of the eighth with a two-run shot to right field with one out to make it 6-4. ASU added an insurance runs in the ninth as Seginowich grounded into a double play with the bases loaded and no outs to score Thomas Cain followed by a wild pitch to score Koby Kelton and make it 8-4.

The Buffs wouldn't go down without a fight as Izaiah Madrid doubled to the gap in right center as Will Fuenning scored all the way from first base with one out before the Rams got a pair of strikeouts to end the game, 8-5.
