2020:
Dean made the move from the bullpen to a weekend starter for the Buffs during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. The Bowie product made seven appearances with three starts, registering a 3.28 ERA and an overall record of 3-0. Dean allowed 12 runs (nine earned) on 23 hits with nine walks and 23 strikeouts during his 24.2 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .242.

2019:
The Bowie native made 10 appearances for the Buffaloes during his junior campaign in 2019, finishing the season with a 3-0 record and a 5.68 ERA as he tossed 12.2 innings out of the bullpen. Dean allowed 14 runs (eight earned) on 20 hits with six walks and 17 strikeouts for an opposing batting average of .333.

At Northeast Texas Community College:
Dean joined the Buffs following two seasons at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas where he was a weekend starter for the Eagles under the guidance of head coach Andy Morgan. Dean led the Eagles in wins (10), complete games (3) and innings (81.1) this past season while ranking second on the team in strikeouts with 51. The talented right-hander went 10-2 on the season with a 4.32 ERA as he tossed three complete games and a pair of shutouts, allowing 49 runs (39 earned) on 75 hits with 51 strikeouts (5.64/game) and an opposing batting average of .235.
 
As a freshman in 2017, Dean made 10 appearances for the Eagles as he tossed 25.1 innings on the season with 16 strikeouts to average 5.68 per contest. At the plate, the Sunset native hit .322 with eight doubles and three homeruns to drive in 15 RBI with 56 total bases for a slugging percentage of .463.

At Bowie High School:
Dean registered a standout prep career at Bowie High School where he was named the District 9-3A Most Valuable Player as a junior along with a Red River Diamond Dozen selection. He was a First Team All-State selection for the Jackrabbits under head coach Ryan Rogers as he led the team to a District Championship.
