CANYON, Texas – The No. 17 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M return to competition on Monday, Oct. 4 when they host the annual West Texas A&M Fall Invitational. The two-day event will take place at the Tascosa Golf Club (Par 71, 5,865 yards) in Amarillo with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
"The team always looks forward to hosting at home in front of their family, friends, and Buff supporters," head coach
Meredith Jameson said. "This year we will be playing on the Tascosa Course rather than the La Paloma Course. The ladies have had great practices this week that have focused heavily on shots inside 130 yards, which is where scoring happens."
In their last outing, the Lady Buffs finished fifth overall at the DBU Women's Classic shooting 30-over 894 (300-291-303) to open the 2021-22 season. Freshman
Gam Songprasert led WT in her first Top-15 finish after she placed 11
th with rounds of 70-72-77.
"This group of young WT golfers are truly amazing around, and on the greens, and I'm excited to see what they can do at our home event."
The six-time defending tournament champions will face competition from No. 14 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 24 Oklahoma Christian who finished seven and 10 strokes behind the Lady Buffs at the DBU Women's Classic. Sophomore
Rylie Cook will defend the individual title after she was the only player to finish under par last season.
