CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Women's Basketball head coach
Kristen Mattio has announced the addition of Stratford High School standout Shay Audrain for the 2020-21 campaign. Audrain joins Madison Kast, Lauren Taylor, Jillian Sowell, Baylee Fincher and Jayla Burgess as the first five members of WT's signing class.

"We are so excited to have Shay and her family become Lady Buffs, she is a talented guard that comes from a solid Stratford High School program. Shay has a great feel for the game and how it should be played, she is an intelligent player who can score in a variety of ways offensively and we love her competitive spirit" said Mattio "Shay's strength is shooting the three, she will provide additional depth to our guard position. She is a tremendous student in the classroom and will really be a great representative of our university and community, Buff Nation will really enjoy watching Shay compete in a Lady Buff uniform!"

Audrain comes to Canyon following one season at Oklahoma Panhandle State where she played in all 31 games with 19 starts, she led the Aggies offensively going 122-of-317 (38.5%) from the floor including 69-of-194 (35.6%) from behind the arc to average 11.7 points per game to go along with 106 rebounds, 33 assists, eighth blocks and 25 steals. She was named an All-Sooner Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection, finishing sixth in the league in three-point field goal percentage and eighth in three-pointers made.

Shay was a four-year letterwinner at Stratford High School, picking up First Team All-District honors each of her four seasons to go along with three different All-Region accolades. She was named the District MVP three times while being selected to the Panhandle Plains Magazine All-Area team as a junior and a senior. Audrain also excels in the classroom, being named a four-time Academic All-District honoree while serving as a member of the National Honor Society.

Audrain is the daughter of Pistol and Jessica and she has three sisters, Shay plans on majoring in Health Science & Nursing at West Texas A&M.
