#1 Angelo State Walks It Off Again in the Series Finale, 9-8

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The #14 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M took a lead late into the series finale on Sunday afternoon by the powerful offense of the top-ranked Angelo State Rams battled back to walk it off in the 11th inning at Foster Field, 9-8 in front of over 1,600 fans in San Angelo.
 
The Buffs return to the friendly confines of Wilder Park next weekend as they host the Texas A&M International Dustdevils in a four-game Lone Star Conference series starting on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in Canyon.

RECAP:
The Rams got on the board in the home half of the first inning as Nick Seginowich singled up the middle with two outs to drive in Parker Bramlett for the 1-0 lead. The Buffs responded in the top of the second as Reese Patterson led off the frame with a solo homerun the other way to right field to tie the game at 1-1.
 
Patterson continued his big day at the plate in the fourth as the Canyon product doubled to the alley in left center to score Kyle Moos followed by a Rams error that plated another run, Izaiah Madrid grounded out to shortstop to score Caleb Flores followed by a Keone Givens RBI single to left that plated Darius Carter for the 5-1 lead.
 
Angelo cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Brad Mathiowetz lifted a two-run shot to left field with no outs followed later in the frame by a Riley Peterson RBI fielder's choice to cut the lead to 5-4. The Buffs added insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning as Clay Koelzer lifted a three-run blast with two outs to extend the lead to 8-4.
 
The high-powered Angelo State offense cut into the lead in the home half of the frame as Tyler Mendoza homered to left field to score Aaron Walters and cut the lead to 8-6. ASU tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs as Seginowich lifted a two-run shot the other way into the visiting bullpen to send the game into extra innings tied at 8-8. ASU would win it again in walkoff fashion in the 11th as Walters singled to right field with the bases loaded to drive in Josh Elvir for the 9-8 win.
 
Carter Brown picked up the loss (0-2) on the mound for the Buffs as the senior allowed five runs on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts over the last 3.1 innings of work.
