CANYON, Texas – The #14 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M take their 13-game win streak down Interstate 27 on Tuesday night as they take on the #23 Chaps of Lubbock Christian in a South Central Region showdown at Hays Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Lubbock.

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The Chaps are guided by 16th year head coach Nathan Blackwood who has led LCU to an overall record of 653-263 with a pair of Heartland Conference Championships since joining the league. During their NAIA run, Lubbock Christian University made four trips to the NAIA World Series under Blackwood's guidance including a National Championship in 2009.

Lubbock Christian enters the week with an overall record of 30-11 with a 12-3 mark in Heartland Conference action as they sit a game ahead of Rogers State wit two weeks left in the regular season. LCU dropped two of three games last weekend on the road in league action at Texas A&M-International.

LCU is led offensively by Hill Alexander who is hitting .419 on the season with 14 doubles, three triples and 12 homeruns to drive in 50 RBI with 123 total bases for a slugging percentage of .769 as he has started all 41 games so far this season for the Chaps.Â

On the mound, Chandler Casey is expected to take the ball on Tuesday night as the senior righty from Lubbock is 6-4 on the season with a 2.76 ERA as he has allowed 22 runs (20 earned) on 56 hits with 13 walks and 70 strikeouts in his 65.1 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .232.

NATIONAL COLLEGE BASEBALL WRITERS TOP-25 POLL (APR. 16)
The West Texas A&M Buffaloes moved up two spots to 14th in this week's edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.

UC San Diego picked up 13 of the possible 19 first place votes to sit first with 457 points followed by Angelo State (three first place, 455), Newberry (one first place, 410), Southern New Hampshire (403), St Cloud State (one first place, 388), Tampa (one first place, 369), Colorado Mesa (365), Quincy (345), North Greenville (333) and Millersville (291) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by Angelo State (2nd), Colorado Mesa (7th), West Texas A&M (14th), Lubbock Christian (23rd) and Colorado School of Mines (RV).

Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native enters his 11th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 353-213 (.624) during his decade in Canyon while registering a career record of 452-280 (.617) in his 13 seasons in collegiate baseball.

CORBETT MAKING A MOVE
West Texas A&M senior
Joe Corbett has become one of the top pitchers in all of Division II Baseball this season as the Edmond, Oklahoma native is making his way up the WT career record book in multiple categories. Corbett currently sits second in career victories with 21 to sit behind Jason Patrick (22, 1994-97) while also ranking third in career strikeouts (212) behind
Dylan James (221, 2013-14) and Raymond Bergara (224, 2001-05). Corbett set the single-season wins record as a junior in 2018 with a mark of 11-2 as he in just one victory shy of tying his own mark.
