CANYON, Texas – No. 4 West Texas A&M will compete in it's 13th Lone Star Conference Tournament Final on Sunday, March 10, when they face off against Texas A&M-Commerce at 1 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.

A LOOK BACK AT TARLETON
West Texas A&M advanced to the program's 13thLone Star Conference Tournament Final on Saturday afternoon with a 83-74 win over Tarleton at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The backcourt duo of
Brandon Hall and
Qua Grant combined for 48 points as the Buffs defeated the Texans three times in a single season in program history.Â

WT shot 28-of-54 (51.9%), 16-of-27 (58.3%) from three-point range and 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line with 24 rebounds, 16 assists and four blocks. Grant reached 20-plus points for the seventh time this season with a game-high 26 to go along with his seven rebounds going 9-of-15 from the floor, 4-of-6 from three.
Brandon Hall had 22 points to go allowing with six assists and five rebounds with
Joel Murray and
Eric Mosley both scoring 12 points.

A LOOK AT TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
Texas A&M-Commerce (23-7, 13-5 LSC) defeated UT Permian Basin and Angelo State to get their 10th Tournament Final and first since 2015. The Lions have won three straight games since dropping a 102-92 decision to UTPB on the road on Feb. 28.

With leading scorer Reggie Reid out with an injury, Willie Rooks has taken over the scoring duties for the Lions where he recorded a triple-double in TAMUC's semifinal win over Angelo State on Saturday. The senior from Houston, Texas is averaging 14.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 40.9 percent from the floor, 35.4 percent from three-point range and 71.0 percent from the free throw line. Before being held to six points in the quarterfinal against UTPB, he had scored in double digits in 16 straight games.Â

Much like Rooks, Trey Conrod has started in all 30 games for the Lions where he averages 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. The senior guard has reached double digits in scoring in eight straight contest including a season-high 20 against MSU Texas. He is also one of TAMUC's top three pointer shooters at 48.1 percent from downtown.Â

Jaret Von Rosenberg was named the fourth head coach in Texas A&M-Commerce's Division II era on April 3, 2017, after spending two seasons as an assistant at the University of Hartford. In his first season in Commerce, he led the Lions to a 22-9 record, their first NCAA Tournament win since 2005 and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a roster that featured two returners from the previous season.

LAST TIME VS. TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The Buffs ended a two-game losing streak in Commerce, Texas on Feb. 23 with a 81-69 victory over the Lions to clinch their second consecutive LSC regular season title.
Qua Grant was one of five Buffs in double figures with a game-high 23.

In the contest, WT shot 29-of-66 (43.9%) from the floor, 13-of-32 (40.6%) from three-point range and 10-of-19 (52.6%) from the charity stripe with 38 rebounds, 18 assists, six steals and four blocks.Â

INSIDE THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series 61-33 including a 7-5 in games played on neutral sites. The Buffs are on a four-game winnings streak, their longest since 2009-13.Â

They have now meet at a neutral site in three consecutive seasons with the Buffs winning the past two meetings including a 73-63 in last year's LSC semifinals.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Saturday's win over Tarleton, WT has now won 30 or more games in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. The Buffs are now two wins short of tying the program record of 32 wins set last year team that made to the program's first Final Four.Â

WT is looking to win back-to-back LSC tournament titles for the first time since 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons.Â

Qua Grant once again showed the conference why he was named the Freshman of the Year on Saturday reaching the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season. The Waxahachie , Texas native 26-point performance against TSU marked the third time he has scored at least 20 points in the past four games.

Eric Mosley is playing some of his basketball at the right time for the Buffs as they are looking to win their eighth LSC tournament title. The junior from Gilbert, Ariz. is averaging 11.5 points per game during the tournament shooting 8-of-10 (80.0%) form the floor and 7-of-9 (77.8%) from beyond the arc. He tied his career-high in three-point makes in the quarterfinal before breaking it in the semifinal with four makes.

The Buffs have made at least 10 three-pointers in 16 games this season including their 16-of-27 (59.3%) performance against TSU on Saturday afternoon. During the LSC Tournament, they are shooting 47.3 percent from beyond the arc as a team.

A LOOK AT THE RANKINGS
The Buffs remained fourth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top-25 released on Tuesday afternoon behind Northwest Missouri State, Indiana (Pa.) and Nova Southeastern. They moved up to fourth in the D2SIDA rankings after winning their second consecutive LSC Regular Season title.

They also moved into first in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings after they regular season finale victory over Eastern New Mexico. St. Edward's was second followed by Colorado School of Mines (3rd), Lubbock Christian (4th), TAMUC (5th), ASU (6th), Dallas Baptist (7th) and Newman (8th).

WT HEAD COACH TOM BROWN
Fifth-year head coach
Tom Brown is now the fifth-winningest coach in program history following their win over UT Permian Basin on Feb. 9 at the First United Bank Center. He also ranks second in win percentage (76.8%) as he has guided the Buffs to four consecutive seasons with 20-plus wins. He is also the only coach in WT history to lead the team to a pair of 20 game home win streaks.Â

THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM
For the third consecutive week, West Texas A&M freshman
Qua Grant was named the Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week following his career-best performance against Eastern New Mexico on Feb. 26 on the ESPN3 Division II Showcase.Â

The freshman was sensational in Tuesday's game against the Greyhounds scoring a career-high 29 points going a career-best 11-of-18 from the floor, 2-of-6 from three-point range and 5-of-8 from the free throw line while pulling down eight rebounds with four steals.Â
