CANYON, Texas – The #10 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M fought back from a five-run deficit in the first inning as senior
Kyle Kaufman cleared the bases with a three-run double in the home half of the eighth inning to send WT to a weekend sweep of Adams State at Wilder Park in Canyon.
The Buffs continue their homestand next weekend as they host the Regis Rangers in a four-game South Central Regional series starting on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Wilder Park in Canyon.

HOW IT HAPPENENED:
The Grizzlies jumped out to an early lead as Nico Nintze tripled off of the right center field wall with one out followed by a Logan Bistrup RBI single to center, Adams State loaded the bases before Dakota Solis drew a walk to drive in the second run of the game and knock WT's
Mitchell Miller from the mound.
Cooper Harris entered from the pen and forced an apparent inning-ending double play ball but an errant WT throw scored two more followed by an RBI single to make it 5-0.
Keone Givens tripled to the left center field gap to start the bottom of the third followed two hitters later by a
Clay Koelzer RBI double to push across WT's first run of the game and cut the lead to 5-1.
Tag Baxter doubled to the right center field gap to start the sixth followed by a
Justin Martinez triple down the right field line and a
Darius Carter sac fly to center to cut the lead to 5-3.
ASU's Dalton Carleo gave way to Trent Hughes in the bottom of the seventh after a great start as the top of the WT order came to the plate, Givens drew a four-pitch walk and stole second followed by a
Kyle Kaufman RBI double to the warning track in center field at 5-4. Martinez was hit by a pitch to leadoff the eighth followed by a
Darius Carter sac bunt to move Martinez into scoring position,
Jake Pederson tied the game with a pinch-hit single to center followed by a fly ball and Loya getting hit by a pitch. A wild pitch moved runners to second and third with two outs before Koelzer walked to load the bases, Kaufman cleared the bases with a double to right center to make it 8-5.
Chandler Dean picked up the win (1-0) on the mound for the Buffs, tossing a perfect top of the eighth inning before
Braden Baker finished off the win with a save, allowing two hits and striking out a pair.
