Jacob’s Historic Day Leads Lady Buffs to 10-0 Victory over Oklahoma Christian

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M scored the second-most goals in program history in a 10-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Senior Day at The Pitch. Khaline Jacob was one seven WT players to score as the senior became the 13th Lady Buff to record a hat trick and fifth player to record eight points in a game.

The Lady Buffs spent a majority of the opening minutes in attack with Maliyah Mendoza opening the scoring in the 29thminute. Jacob sprinted past the defense before feeding a wide-open Mendoza at the far post for her fourth goal of the season. Samantha Silvestre would make it 2-0 in the 36th minute after timing her run perfectly for a breakaway goal. The senior was the recipient of a beautiful through ball from Jessica Diaz before disposing the ball into the back of the net.

Jacob would get her first goal of the game in the 43rd minute on an assist from Hannah Kelley-Lusk. WT continued to push numbers forward as Diaz was taken down in the box which led to a penalty kick for Marlene van Mourik. The senior sent the keeper the wrong way giving her a goal in four straight games.

WT would score the first of their six second half goals in the 52nd minute on Jacob's second goal of the game on a nice pass from Calista Cordero. Kelley-Lusk finally found the back of the net on her 11th shot of the game in the 64th minute.

Hannah Duffy scored her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute on a breakaway followed by another goal in the 80th minute on another breakaway. Mia Reyna finished the scoring in the final minute of the game getting on the end of a loose ball in the penalty area.

Jacob became the first Lady Buff to score three goals since Noir Hawash against UT Permian Basin in 2017. Her eight points (3 goals, 2 assists) are the most since Khadidra Debesette scored four goals against Texas A&M International in 2015.

Kelley-Lusk finished the game with a career-high 11 shots, the second-most in program history, while the Lady Buffs 38 total shots were the third-most in a single game. Daniela Estrada earned her third shutout of the season after making two saves.

WT will hit the road for their final two games of the regular season beginning on Thursday, Nov. 7 against Lubbock Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Lubbock.
