CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M senior outfielder
Ashley Hardin hit three homeruns and became the new all-time leader in RBI in Lone Star Conference history on Sunday afternoon as the #13 Lady Buffs capped off a sweep of the visiting Cameron Aggies during Military Appreciation Weekend at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.
The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend for their final road trip of the regular season as they take on the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville in a three-game Lone Star Conference series starting on Friday night at 6 p.m. at Hubert Field.

HOW IT HAPPENENED (GAME 1):
The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead as
Ashley Hardin connected on her 74
th career homerun to leadoff the home half of the first inning for the early 1-0 lead, WT added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as
Kylee Moore crushed a solo bomb to right field to leadoff the frame for the junior's 21
st long ball of the season to make it 2-0.
The Aggies tied the game in the top of the fifth inning as a sac fly and an RBI single off of the left field wall made it 2-2, Hardin struck again in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Flower Mound product became the new Lone Star Conference career RBI leader (245) with a two-run bomb to left center to give the Lady Buffs a 4-2 lead. WT wasn't done yet as
Suka Van Gurp doubled to the left center field gap to drive in
Kourtney Coveney followed by a two-run single to shallow center field by
Shanna McBroom to make it 7-2.
Cameron responded in the top of the sixth inning as they plated four runs on four hits to cut the lead to 7-6, WT added to their lead in the bottom of the frame as Moore singled to left field with two outs to drive in a pair and run the lead to 9-6.
Shayne Starkey picked up the win (13-0) for the Lady Buffs, giving up two runs on six hits with two walks and a strikeout in her five innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENENED (GAME 2):
The Lady Buffs got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning as Van Gurp lifted a sac fly to center field with one out to score Hardin from third base for the early 1-0 lead. Hardin continued her big afternoon at the plate as the senior crushed a two-run homerun to left center in the home half of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 3-0.
The Aggies got on the board in the top of the sixth inning as they scored on a delayed steal with two outs as Brenna Busby crossed the plate before the last out of the inning to cut the lead to 3-1, that's all the lead that
Kilee Halbert would need as the senior right hander registered her 53
rd career complete game to move to 17-5 in the circle as she allowed one run on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
