  • The Lead: The No. 5/14 West Texas A&M dropped the series finale at No. 19 Texas A&M-Kingsville, 12-4 Sunday afternoon as the Javelinas took three of four games from the Buffs in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Javleinas scored three runs in three different innings and scored in six of the eight batting innings overall in the game.
  • TAMUK jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second as a bases loaded hit batsman plated one run and a two RBI sing from Austin Ingraham, who has been a Buff killer all weekend, plated two more runs.
  • An error on a failed pickoff attempt at first base allowed a run to score for a 4-0 lead for the Javelinas in the third.
  • The Buffs got their first hit of the game in the fourth as senior Luis Amaro had an infield single to first, but a fielder's choice ended the threat.
  • TAMUK loaded the bases in the fourth and plated three more runs for a 7-0 lead.
  • WT got on the board in the top of the fifth as senior Nick Canas singled through the right side and later scored on a bases loaded walk. The Buffs were unable to get more as they left the bags full.
  • TAMUK added a run in the fifth and WT scored its second run of the game in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from junior Tag Baxter, but the Javelinas added another run in the bottom of the inning for a 9-2 lead.
  • The Buffs made it 9-4 in the top of the seventh with three-straight hit batsmen to load the bases and a pair of fielder's choices scored the runs.
  • Three more runs scored in the bottom of the eighth for the Javelinas on a two RBI single up the midldle and a ground out RBI for the 12-4 score.

  • Senior starter Noah Draper lasted 1.2 innings, allowing three earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts without allowing a hit as he took the loss (0-1).
  • The Buffs used five relievers in the game and no one saw more than two innings.
  • Offensively the Buffs struggled hitting as Canas went 2 for 4 for the game to lead the team.
