No. 7 Buffs Close Regular Season on the Road Looking for LSC Regular Season Title

Game Notes in PDF Format

CANYON, Texas The No. 7 West Texas A&M men's basketball team closes out the 2017-18 regular season in search of a regular season conference title at Texas A&M-Commerce and at Tarleton State.  The Buffs and Lions battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while WT visits Tarleton State Saturday at 4 p.m.

WIN STREAK OF 8 X 3 – For the third time this season, the Buffs have won eight-straight games after the two wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State last week.  WT is 24-2 overall and 14-2 in Lone Star Conference play heading into the final week of the regular season.  WT's eight-game winning streak is tied for 12th nationally this week.

DOWN TO THE FINAL TWO - The Buffs and UT Permian Basin Falcons are tied for the league-lead heading into the final two games of the regular season both at 14-2.  WT and UTPB play the same teams in the same locations this week as the league champion and top seed in the upcoming Lone Star Conference tournament will be decided.  If both teams win both games this weekend, both would be crowned co-league champions, but UTPB would be the top-seed in the LSC Tournament next week by virtue of sweeping Tarleton State, where WT would split with the Texans in that scenario.  If both teams split, there are a number of scenarios to play out, while if both teams get swept, both would be crowned league co-champions, but UTPB would still be the top-seed based on its win earlier in the year over Tarleton State.

LOOKING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP - With two wins this weekend and at least one loss by UT Permian Basin, the Buffs will win their first outright conference regular season title since 1994 as the team shared three South Division titles (1998, 2000, 2007) and won the South Division outright in 1999 and 2008.  They could still win the outright title with a split and two losses by UTPB.  A split by both, two losses by both or both WT and UTPB winning both games will be a share of the title.
