Dippel Breaks Program Save Record in 0-0 Draw Against Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Courtney Dippel became the Lady Buffs all-time leader in saves in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Angelo State on Sunday, Oct. 7, in San Angelo, Texas. The senior keeper finished the scoreless draw with six saves giving her 309 of her career to surpass Yvette Bedoy's previous record of 306.

WT got off to a strong start to the game with three of their seven shots coming in the first 10 minutes including a shot on-goal from Maliyah Mendoza. Emily Avila, Khadidra Debesette, Mackenzie Taylor and Jessica Diaz all registered shots on-goal in the fist 45 minutes.

The Lady Buffs best chance of the game came in the 59th minute when Noir Hawash's shot went off the cross bar just a minute after the sophomore saw her shot saved by ASU's Miller. Dippel would break Bedoy's record eight minutes later on her second save of the game on a shot from Avery McNeme. Calista Cordero and Samantha Silvestre each recorded a shot on goal in the final half hour but Miller was up for the challenge.

The Lady Buffs couldn't muster any serious chances in either overtime period as Dra. Debesette recorded their lone shot of the overtime in the 98th minute.

Dippel earned her seventh shutout of the season, one short of her career-high, as the Lady Buffs defense has held opponents without a goal for 292:41 minutes.

WT face off against rival Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Portales, N.M. at 8 p.m. CT. The Greyhounds defeated UT Permian Basin 1-0 on Sunday with a goal in the 108th minute.
