Lady Buff Volleyball Hosts Three Big Matches This Weekend at The Box

CANYON, Texas –
The Lady Buffs return to the friendly confines of the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" this weekend as they host Midwestern State, #6 Nebraska-Kearney and Cameron during Lone Star Conference opening weekend.
 
- SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
MIDWESTERN STATE
The Mustangs are led by third year head coach Natalie Burton who led MSU to their first postseason appearance in since 2013 last season. She was named the eighth head coach in program history on March 24, 2015 after serving two years at Newman University.
 
MSU enters the weekend with an overall record of 5-2 following a 3-0 showing at last weekend's Hilltopper Classic in Austin with wins over Black Hills State, St. Edward's and Southern Arkansas.
 
The Mustangs are led offensively by Addison Semer with 72 kills (2.67/set) on 156 swings with 15 attack errors to hit .365 on the season. The MSU offense is paced by Kristan Aduddel with 260 assists (10.40/set) while Aerielle Edward leads the way defensively with 105 digs (4.38/set).
 
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series with the Mustangs, 34-0 in a series dating back to the 1980 season. MSU is 0-15 all-time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box".
 
#6 NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
The Lopers are led by 19th year head coach Rick Squiers who has led UNK to 18 NCAA Tournament Appearances, three Elite Eights and 13 Conference Titles. The Iowa native and 10-time RMAC/MIAA Coach of the Year is 571-81 in his UNK tenure, good for a winning percentage of 88 percent.
 
UNK enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-1 following wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State, Rockhurst, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Texas A&M-Kingsville last weekend in Kearney.
 
The Lopers are led offensively by Kaitlynn Thomas with 92 kills (3.41/set) on 243 swings with 33 attack errors to hit .243 on the season. Lindsay Smith guides the UNK offense with 303 assists (10.45/set) while Ellie McDonnell has registered a team high 125 digs (4.31/set) this season.
 
WT lead the all-time series against Nebraska-Kearney, 4-0 dating back to the start of the series in 1998. The Lopers are 0-3 all-time in Canyon with two of those meetings coming during the NCAA Postseason.
 
CAMERON
Cameron is led by first year head coach Tatiana Booth who came to Lawton following three seasons as the head coach at Vernon College, where she compiled a 76-40 overall record.
 
The Aggies enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-5 following a sweep of University of Science & Art on Tuesday night in Lawton.
 
CU is led offensively by Paige Dixon with 82 kills (3.04/set) on 222 swings with 42 attack errors to hit .180 on the season. Brook Conley has dished out a team high 191 assists (7.07/set) while Brittnee Altic leads the way defensively with 126 digs (4.67/set).
 
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Aggies, 48-3 with WT taking the last two meetings from Cameron in a series dating back to 1988. The Aggies are 0-24 all-time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
 
HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships. The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 457-72 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.4%.
 
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 375-83 (.817, 12th year) including a 239-64 (.787) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

HIGHWAY 287 CHALLENGE
Midwestern State University and West Texas A&M University are proud to announce the return of the Highway 287 Challenge Cup, a competitive series between the athletic programs of the MSU Mustangs and the WT Buffs/Lady Buffs.
 
US Highway 287 connects the communities of Wichita Falls and Amarillo/Canyon. WT won the first two Highway 287 Challenge Cup in 2014-15 before MSU won its first cup in 2015-16, WT responded with their second title in 2016-17.
 
The Challenge, which originated at the request of both student bodies in 2012, tracks head-to-head match-ups and conference championship results in 10 sports between MSU and WT, with each school accumulating points toward the overall series championship.
 
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Lone Star Conference action starts this week, with on game Tuesday and five LSC contests on Friday and Saturday. Entering the week, LSC volleyball teams were 40-47 overall this season. The squads are 15-16 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 3-4 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region.
